Pirates at Reds (4/14 - 4/16)

With the offense being so homer-based so far I don't know that it matters whether or not the leadoff hitter is a true leadoff guy. The team has 17 homers and only 8 steals in 14 games. Why not go with the hot hand? Hit Mesoraco, Frazier or Phillips leadoff. Frazier is only hitting .255 but he's drawn 6 walks already. Heck, hit Bruce leadoff. He's walked 13 times and he'd certainly get some fastballs batting leadoff. That might get him straighted out while giving Hamilton time to get more comfortable. Not a permanent solution by any means but maybe a way to get some struggling guys going.

If they were going to do something like that Votto should hit 1st. Then in some order BP, Bruce, Frazier, Meso and the LF that day. I'm not sure I would go that route, but it would actually make some sense.

Heck, the way Hamilton is going, and the way Leake swings the bat...I wonder if it's ever going to go through a manager's mind to intentionally walk the pitcher, just to get to the leadoff man. :lol2:

I just hope the hitting keeps going like it has been in the last couple of games, especially Votto.

I was thinking Bruce. He's shown some patience with the 13 walks and they'd have to give him something to hit with Votto behind him.

No way Reds score on Liriano.

Mr. Selfish shows himself in the 1st inning.

That inning was a prime example of the weapon Hamilton can be, especially from the leadoff spot. He needs to find ways to get on base though.

Score?

1-0 Reds, bottom of 4th.

Tonight is the first night I've actually seen Billy Hamilton get caught stealing. Batter took a fastball right down the middle.

Sums up the players on this team well, cant even help the runner out by swinging and missing when hes stealing. They sure can swing and miss any other time.

He was giving him an opportunity to steal the base.

redo the third out, lol.

What happened?

Cueto with a ridiculously good start to the year. Lets get the poor guy some runs.
