I didn't see it, but if he thought he was safe he probably should have protested a little to give the video technician time to review it to see if they should appeal the call.

 

I'm in the same boat. One of the writers said he didn't protest and got back to the dugout really quickly.

The offense seems to be coming around even with Hamilton off to a dismal start. Would the Reds be better served to move him down to 8th in the order to take some pressure off of him while he gets used to playing every day at the Major League level?

I think that makes sense. The problem with that, is we don't really have a true leadoff guy other than Hamilton. Even Hamilton his self, is very raw. Who would you put there? Definitely not Cozart. I think you have to go 1. Phillips 2. Votto 3. Bruce

With the offense being so homer-based so far I don't know that it matters whether or not the leadoff hitter is a true leadoff guy. The team has 17 homers and only 8 steals in 14 games. Why not go with the hot hand? Hit Mesoraco, Frazier or Phillips leadoff. Frazier is only hitting .255 but he's drawn 6 walks already. Heck, hit Bruce leadoff. He's walked 13 times and he'd certainly get some fastballs batting leadoff. That might get him straighted out while giving Hamilton time to get more comfortable. Not a permanent solution by any means but maybe a way to get some struggling guys going.

I agree. Wonder if Bryan is taking the Dusty approach? Sitting a guy while he is hot since he believes it's more of a break than sitting a guy in a slump.

Shame it isn't an interleague series where they could use the DH. Tough to play him a day game after a night game, especially since he caught 11 or 12 innings yesterday.
