March 29, 201412 yr Officiating was horrendous last night, no consistency at all. I decided to look back at who the refs were. This DeRosa guy has only worked 18 games in his career and 5 this year. How in the heck do you have a guy who only reffed 5 games this year, ref a sweet 16 game? That blows my mind. Um wrong, he was a 22 year NBA official, over 1500 games, 150 playoff games and 11 NBA finals. He worked over 65 college games this year and close to 250 in the last three years. Not saying I agree with every call but let's face it these guys are very good. Average fan doesn't understand.

They all stink
March 29, 201412 yr Looked again and realized they had his name down as Joe and Joseph separately. They all stink This from someone who can't find the right ref to begin with!?!? So you can make a snap judgement in the heat of moment, sweet 16, with national TV, 41,000 in stands but when you have time to research, you can't find right official, yet they suck? Ok

Ok It was the same guy just listed under different names... And yes they stink. No consistency at all. Refereeing this year has been absolutely atrocious. Also, after doing a little research on the guy I see he was suspended in the NBA finals a few years ago. Probably time for him to hang up the whistle and move down to a retirement village in Florida.
March 29, 201412 yr Doyel kills it....again. Haters Beware, Kentucky is Being Kentucky at Right (or Wrong) Time From the article: After starting the game by going 1 of 11 from the field with only two free-throw attempts and three turnovers, the Harrisons finished by hitting six of their final 13 shots from the field, getting to the line 10 more times -- making nine -- and committing no more turnovers. They played like veterans. Impressive finish for the Harrisons.

Not going to continue knocking someone who doesn't know how to officiate basketball, again average uneducated fan, Go Cats!!
March 29, 201412 yr Great game to watch. Congrats to UofL on a great year. Can't say I'm disappointed to see those seniors go though. UofL needs to give up the FT argument though. They hit 75% in the last 4:33 starting with two from Hancock to put UofL up 7.
March 29, 201412 yr Twins have definitely changed their game. They all have. I like Cal, but always have wondered how good a coach he really is. I think this season, taking all things into consideration, is his best job. Looks like they've bought in. Fun to watch. I agree doc. This has been his best coaching job and I think last night was one of his best games as coach. The way he called all those early timeouts and got the team focused was great. He did make a couple moves I questioned. In the last couple minutes, UL was at the free throw line and he put Dakari in when there was no doubt UL was going to foul if they miss the free throw. Other questionable move was the way he used Young when he had 3/4 fouls. Cal got Young fouled out of that game that early by how he used him, but that worked out ok because of the way Poythress played. Even though I question those moves, with everything else Cal did I consider last night right at the top of well coached games by Cal.
March 29, 201412 yr Everyone has brought up good points about different moments in the game, Louisville's missed free throws, Stein's injury, officiating, and more. When it was all said and done, I personally believe that coaching was the ultimate difference. Cal did a masterful job last night; maybe one of his best games to date. On the other side, Pitino's game management was very questionable, which I believe was the main difference maker. Cal flat outcoached Pitino last night; no question.
March 29, 201412 yr My two takeaways: 1) Dakari really flourished, and 2) ironic that missed free throws would be a problem for UL, but a nonissue for UK. Interesting that all year people have complained about UK's free throw shooting yet tonight they won the game because of free throw shooting Did anyone else hear Pitino's "end of and era" comments? Agreed people consistently talk about Cal's team and poor free throw shooting. However the 2011 and 2012 teams were good free throw shooting teams, last years sucked, and this year sucked earlier. However they have been shooting their free throws really well going back to the SEC tournament. Much improved. (knock on wood).
March 29, 201412 yr That's probably one of the most unexpected comeback I've seen in my lifetime. At that point if the game I thought the Cats were done. So proud of how they battled back. So proud of how they've made believers out of us all. I don't think any of us, if were being honest would have thought the Cats would be playing for a trip to the Final Four a month ago. Even with me being one of the biggest optimistic people on this site, I can't even say I thought for sure it would happen. The best I could say was that they could possibly make a final four run or just as easily be out in the 1st round. Which is something I think everyone thought. This team won me over though in the 2nd half of the game game against Florida at Florida. I think they figured something out that half, and just started playing basketball.
March 29, 201412 yr I have no idea how people were able to post in the update thread or even really get on here after the game to post lol. I was so nervous throughout the game, and then obviously I was so happy and pumped after the game my last thought was to get on here haha. I love the run this team is on right now! Survive and advance! Go Cats!
