Have not caught Louisville tournament games yet so not sure how they've played. They were on a roll coming into the tournament and with the way UK has stepped up their game I expect a classic. Going with UK 66-63.

I think it's pretty cool that the last 3 times UK and UL have been in the tournament they played eachother to advance deep into the tourney. The previous 2 were huge games and this one will be no different.

If late FEB UofL plays late FEB/early MAR UK, UofL by 20.

If this weekend's UK plays this weekend's UofL, UK by 20.

If late FEB UofL plays this weekend's UK, it will be close but Russ & Hancock would have to "go off" for UofL to win.

 

Should be interesting.

We're obviously biased here (and rightfully so, IMO), but you have to think the winner of this game would be the favorite to cut down the nets.

There's certainly a very good chance. I wish I knew more about Michigan. They're certainly a very good team but I don't know that these two haven't been playing better in recent weeks.

Michigan scares me as a UK fan, as I think they are an awful matchup for the Cats. They have length at every position just like Kentucky, have a bunch of shooters, and have a couple of big guys that can bang down low. Plus they play that quirky 1-3-1 defense that I'm sure none of these young Wildcats have seen before.

If McGary hadn't gotten hurt at the beginning of the season, I think they'd have gone through this entire season as the favorite to cut down the nets in Dallas. I just don't know how they'll fare in the deeper rounds playing not only a backup in the middle but ultimately a backup's backup when he goes to the bench.

These two schools are a combined 12-1 in the last three tournaments with the only loss when they played each other.

 

Pitino and Cal have meet in the tournament 3 times.

I went with UK in the first game (UL still had Chane even though he didn't show up and more importantly, Randle sat out most of the second half with cramps) and I'm going with them again in this one. I feel like the Cats are too athletic for UL to keep up with and I feel like UK has a huge advantage down low. Harrell is a terrific ball player but the combination of Dakari, WCS, Alex P and Randle will be a lot for him to handle. Get him in early foul trouble and it's over.

 

I actually think the player that could swing this game one way or the other is Hancock.

Russ will get his and that's fine but if Hancock is feeling it from deep, UL could easily be advancing to another elite 8.

 

UK's length and rebounding will give UL fits in this one.

Pretty spot on, IMO.

My son, the UofL student and fan, asked me my thoughts. I told him this is a game you can throw history and record out the window because it will stand on it's own. I picked this matchup on my bracket and picked UofL to win it. I will root for the CATS til the end, and hope that whomever wins this game wins it all.

For the record, I think Harrell is Louisville's linchpin in this one.
