Grant Hill Says People Hate Duke Because "we've had a lot of good white players"

Featured Replies

Maybe it's Grant Hill who doesn't like white people. After all, he's the only person I have ever heard say this.

I could care less about their race. Being a Kentuckian and having UNLV (my alma mater) get beat in back to back years is enough for me. UNLV goes down as top 3 teams ever that if they finish 91' season undefeated, now they are just a side note to Wichita State's run. Im not evening going to rehash 92', you know the drill.

Vegas did run them out the gym in 90' by 30, which still brings a smile to my face. I met Laettner and Blakeney this year at St. Pius, painfully saying, they are two really nice guys.

I like the athleticism of a lot of Duke players, some great basketball players have played there….I hate Duke because of Laettner….I would punch him right in his mouth in public if I ever ran into him…I might have to get up on a milk crate, but I would find one..

Because of a sporting event that happened 22 years ago you would punch an undeserving man in his mouth. Priceless.

I guess there's something wrong with me because I don't hate anyone whether they're in sports or every day living.. Hate is a powerful and bad

word.

Fair or not. I think when Duke wins with White kids they are perceived as spoiled, arrogant, and better than other kids.

And when black people persecute white people for 200 years, I'll get offended about what Grant said.

Hate comments like this I never persecuted anyone. Don't lump me in with people who lack skin pigmentation like me .

I started to dislike Duke because of Danny Ferry and his attitude, it continued with Laetner and his arrogance.

A few years ago there was also a lovefest with Duke from several of the talking heads, which turned people against them as well.

You've not encountered many Duke graduates, otherwise you'd see how the perception of spoiled and arrogance is earned and embraced.

One of my best friends from High School went to Duke, He came back a changed man. A Duke degree changed him, somewhat understandable, but the level of cockiness he displays talking about Duke is so annoying.

If you can imagine someone on your Facebook feed who embodies the "post about every": church service, political event, cross fit training, rescue puppy adoption, indie band or movie you've never heard of, and vegan meal, then combine that person into one, you'd meet someone who went to Duke and then sees their whole identity as being defined by their Duke degree and just can't stop talking about it.

I sense some pent up aggression here :lol2:

Also if I here "When I went to Duke" one more time I might flip. He was the first person I talked to after they lost yesterday too.

Hahaha... Nah, it's kind of a joke that me and some friends have going at school about people's Facebook posts, so it was already there. We started it as: "so, if you are a church going vegan who does cross fit and just adopted a rescue, how do you decide which to post about first?"

I know some good friends who went to Duke. I also know plenty of others who just can't shut up about going there. It's like, yes, I get it, you went to Duke. I have friends who went to Ivy League schools, but they don't remind you of it every 15 minutes.
