Teddy's Pro Day

Featured Replies

How bad was it? I keep hearing that he underwhelmed the scouts and that it overall was a poor showing.

Anyone got info on what was so bad? How far if at all will he fall in the draft?

From what I remember reading, he was not very accurate, but I didn't see much about it.

Saw them discuss it the other day on Pardon the Interruption. Don't know any particulars about his performance, but it's not the first time that top notch QB's have had bad pro days. And on the flip side, they said having a great pro day, doesn't guarantee you'll make it in the NFL either. They seemed to think that his past 3 years on the field, in games, would stand for more. So, I think you'll still see him go as one of the top QB's.

Good, I like Teddy and hope he succeeds and was hating to think this would drop him much.

Mort spoke about him today. He said his hands are small and that is a concern. He made a comment about QBs wearing gloves when they don't need to wear one. I'm sure a few teams will reach for one of the QBs in the first round when none are expected to be impact players.

The one thing I heard about his pro day was he was not accurate throwing the long ball.

No surprise, he never has been able to throw it with much accuracy. The UofL receivers were not often hit in stride on deep throws. Many times the had to comeback to it or make a diving attempt because it was overthrown. He is incredibly smart football wise, and he does work extremely hard. he will be fine in the league

A lot of guys are football smart and work hard, but if they can't hit a bull in the butt with the ball consistently they don't make it in the NFL. The passing windows in the NFL are ridiculously small compared to what you can get away with in College ball.

I hope the best for him, but if accuracy is his weakness that doesn't bode well.

He didn't wear his gloves, and he said himself that was a mistake.

My point was, his issues are not that bad. His accuracy isn't in shambles like some QB's. I was saying that with his intelligence and ethic he will be able to correct those accuracy issues. Hopefull he works with Norv and is in purple and yellow :)

I thought you liked Teddy, why would you wish that on him :)

I mentioned during the college football season this year that I felt like Teddy would slide down in the draft and other QB's would pass him. He has played great in games, but just had a feeling that all this off season evaluation that QB's go through before the draft would see him slip a little and other players stock go up. He should still be a 1st round QB though with all the teams needing QB's.

I have been among the minority when it comes to Teddy. All through this last College season I was never really impressed with Teddy so his pro day really doesn't surprise me. If I had a choice between him or Manziel I'd take Johnny football big time and that is even knowing Johnny can be a huge bust.

Agreed! While he has had a great college career, I just haven't really seen many throws where I been real impressed. A lot of his throws have come to wide open guys and not having to fit it into tight windows. I will say though that he did impress me in the Florida game.

Against Florida Teddy went 20-32 for 266, 2 TD/1 INT. Solid day, though the numbers are not what many made them out to be for a college game; but, what was most impressive that game was Teddy's moxy and leadership which I think is being undersold with this draft.

But you are right on not being able to get a full on gauge of his talents. Half the throws it seemed there was nobody within 15 yards of receivers because UL was much better than a lot of their competition, especially this season. But some of that had to do with him as well.
