March 19, 201412 yr Cal did say that although he didn't know how long that he thought that 10 years would be the limit for a coach at U.K. - due to the pressure, stress and work that the U.K. job demanded out of a man. Self would be just great with me, definately#1, no lower than 2 on my short list to contact - at least offer. If Cal left Barnhart should call one man, and one man only, Shaun Miller... No way would Bill Self leave Kansas. It would be a very small step up.
March 19, 201412 yr If Cal left Barnhart should call one man, and one man only, Shaun Miller... No way would Bill Self leave Kansas. It would be a very small step up. I can certainly understand your point. I like Miller as well, him or Brad Stevens (Celtics, former Butler) would be right there with Self for me. I really don't believe that Self would leave Kansas either but I would certainly ask. I said on a short list on my earlier post and is really ironic that you posted what you have bc my list included Miller and Stevens with Self, that was my entire list. :thumb: I guess that great minds think alike.:sssh:........or some kind of mind. :lol2::thumb:
March 19, 201412 yr Congrats to both parties! Parties ??? Pearl is already holding parties for recruits ? Isn't that one thing that got him busted before ? :lol2:
March 19, 201412 yr You're right. Pitino doesn't even coach in the same conference as Kentucky. Vols fans should be even more upset. I think the circumstances around their departures were a little different. Also, Pearl doesn't come off in the same way as Pitino when you are looking at their public personas. Pearl breathed life into a Tennessee program who, other than some years in the 70s, never had much. He did it with infectious energy and enthusiasm. I know Pitino rebuilt UK after their probation, but let's be real, Kentucky had their fair share of success before he was there. Even while Pitino was at UK, you'd hear people comment about how he and his wife weren't really in love with living in the Lexington area (which, in my opinion, is understandable given the Northeastern roots... it's just a culture clash).
March 19, 201412 yr Good move by Auburn. I think Pearl is a great coach and it was fun seeing him in the SEC. He's got his faults, but seems likable at the same time.
March 19, 201412 yr Yep absolutely...maybe he can go to Kansas when Self comes to UK to replace Cal in 4 or 5 years Love that line of thinking. Perfect.
March 19, 201412 yr Did not realize Pearl had been tagged with the dreaded Show Cause. I thought that was a 5 year death sentence? Now that precedent has been established very well could pave the way for a guy like Jim Tressel to get back in the game. Hmm.
March 19, 201412 yr I hate this as a UK fan. He is a solid coach and Auburn has resources to build basketball. Good move by War Eagle, IMO. Yeah it might make Auburn a little tougher to play, but in the end, I think this is good for Kentucky. Hopefully can build a good program down there which benefits UK and the whole SEC.

March 19, 201412 yr Bruce got a great reception at the airport. I wonder how they got all the season ticket holders to show up like that.
March 19, 201412 yr Think what you will about Bruce Pearl, but the guy is VERY enthusiastic about his job.
March 20, 201412 yr Did not realize Pearl had been tagged with the dreaded Show Cause. I thought that was a 5 year death sentence? Now that precedent has been established very well could pave the way for a guy like Jim Tressel to get back in the game. Hmm. NCAA gave Pearl a 3-yr Show Cause penalty which ends 8/23/14.
March 20, 201412 yr Bruce got a great reception at the airport. He eats it up doesn't he? Hope he keeps his nose clean, and his phone. He is a pretty decent coach and you have to like his enthusiasm.
