Augusta although its a independent school is in Bracken, depending on your address you can go to either/or. If you want your child to go to one or the other its pretty easy to get around. I've seen it go both ways

 

I admit I don't know how it works in NKY there are a lot more schools up there. Maybe boundaries isn't the right word. I'm guessing here but Cant you enrol at any private school no matter of where you live. For example I live in Bracken county out in the county not Brooksville or Augusta, I could enrol my daughter in St. Pat in Maysville or St. Augustine in Augusta if I could A. afford the tuition and B. provide her transportation to and from school. I assume it is that way in NKY with the private schools. Please correct me if I am wrong. With that said I am under the impression that if a kid lives in Kenton Boone or Campbell they could attend any private or catholic school they choose granted their family could afford the tuition and provide transportation.

 

If that is the case then the famlies that have money can send their kids to whatever school they want. Then that could potentially draw the more kids with more opportunities to become great players to one private school or another. Hence all the talent winding up at one school or the other.

 

In no way do I mean any disrespect to these schools. They are going by the rules as far as I know and kudos to them for all their accomplishments.

 

There was a thread on here a week or so ago asking the question if certain players had stayed at other schools instead of enrolling at CCH or NCC. I didn't really understand that thread but I assume these kids all went to the private schools to get a lot of talent in one school or another to kinds get the advantage on the competition.

 

Maybe classifying the Private schools in their own division. Which I don't really like because that would put the schools like St. Pat at an even bigger disadvantage. Then I've read on here to realign the 9th and 10th regions. In a sense the 37th goes back to the 9th region. GRC goes to the 11th and MoCo goes to the 16th. But who comes to the 10th?

 

Im kinda getting off topic now so I will stop . Its clear to see I have a lot more questions than answers.:banghead: I would just like to see a level playing field across the board for all schools not just mine. :thumb:

 

Here is the thing that people always overlook when they talk about private schools drawing kids from everywhere - the same is true for public schools (except the few who CHOOSE not to allow out of district students). When a student in KY enters the 9th grade, they can attend any school they want and play sports there. That Augusta kid could go to Mason County if he/she wanted (as long as Mason County hasn't closed their school to out of district students).

Look, for Cov Cath, Schult, Heppler, Schuh and Van Handorf were probably going to CC from the day they were born. I believe all came from the true feeder schools, similar to a Twenhofel or Summit View kid who attends Simon Kenton. The Cov Cath kids were never going to attend Dixie, nor any other public school whether they were athletes or not. That is what people are missing.

But we made a pact to be living in good ole Bracken Co. Before she started school.

 

If what your are saying about the freedom to choose before the ninth grade then I personally feel that all counties should adopt Boone Co policies. If parents want their children to attend another school they should have to move to that county or school district. Just my opinion and I figure it will get rave reviews. :thumb:

I am with you also on this. Used to be everyone in that district went to that school unless you were a tuition school. Whatever happened to the good ol days are gone to the you can win here and that school has nothing to build on. I blame it on the culture of sports on TV with all these know it all announcers , win at all costs and not team, friendships with fellow friends you actually grew up with who continue to play and being able to connect with them win or lose with them is lost on the bigger picture on life to the concept of winning.Friendships are made and the backbone of this country on how we treat one another and alot of this is lost on the being a winner.Traditions are lost now where our kids are no longer going to the same schools you graduated from due where you live or unable to get in those schools Not sure with were this is going but times have changed, parents have to make decisions for their kids and sometimes the bigger picture needs to be reexamined on the whole.I am done.

What some don't recognize is that families move to another district, but their families have a tradition in another system nearby. Also in some rural areas your house could actually be miles closer to the county next door high school than their own. The vast majority of those attending out of residency schools have nothing to do with athletics.

Yes, it's cyclical. On girls side, after next year, I don't see NDA or HC being as talented. I see Highlands, Ryle and others getting stronger.

Nope. But this girl would hands down be the best player in the 9th region next year as a junior.

 

Had 37 points in a game as a freshman in 2012/2013 and has continued to dominate the past year and a half where she plays now.
