Congrats to the Neers and Coach Steiner on a good run to end the season. Was really hoping to watch them in Rupp but congrats to SO and good luck in Lexington.

I have been attending the 8th Region tournament for many years and that is the lowest attended final I have ever seen. But regardless of the crowd it was a great game. I kept waiting for South to go on their "run" but SK did a great job of controlling the pace and keeping the game close. Congrats to both teams on a great season and to the Dragons at Rupp.

Want to pass along congratulations to Coach Simpson. Great guy, and I'm happy that he's had the opportunity to take a team to Rupp, not once, but now twice. Good luck!

Your eyes close, your muscles tense up, your heart rate spikes.....

So...were you watching the game or off somewhere having sex?:idunno:

That's a shame. In the regional finals and can't even fill up the lower seating sections! WOW!!

Maybe they gave up after sitting in traffic on 71 FOREVER.

No doubt, and they just reduced speed in that area to 60mph due to the vaunted construction zone.

I was glad to see Mullin and Pracht give a great effort in this game...something they can build upon for next year. Not sure who the favorite will be for next year but I'd expect the region to be down again. Going to miss Morrison and Kuntz.

Traffic had nothing to do with it. SK never has a good crowd at the region. I find it interesting that a school that has the passion to constantly bash their football coach (also very successful), and a segment that loves to bash their basketball coach (very successful), can't find the energy to drive to New Castle to support their team. I don't write this to bash your team. I loved watching them all three nights. They play physical, unselfish, hardnosed team basketball. They are a joy to watch. Your band and the fans that did show up were into the game. Good for them. I simply believe someone should call things the way they are. Most of the posters on this site have started with I listened to the game, etc. SK has a larger than normal group that like to moan and groan and complain about everything. I am calling you out. Why should we listen to you if you don't care enough to go watch a quality team play their hearts out in a regional championship game? You should be embarassed.

Well said! I remember when SK was moved to the 8th Region at the start of the 2005-06 school year, many SK fans thought they would be cutting down the nets on a regular basis since they thought the 8th Region to be "weak". I have a TON of respect for Coach Steiner, and I think that he and his team deserve better support than they get from their fan-base.

Wow. No one from SK is bashing the football coach. He saved the program from circling the drain.. The BB coach has barely won 50% of his games over a long tenure with some really good talent. Maybe the SK fan base has grown weary of the success of the BB team? BTW, Henry Co isn't in our back yard like it is for the Oldham schools. Maybe parents don't want to risk the lives of their precious children on that mess of a highway late on a school night......:)

I was very disappointed in the Simon faithful. Your team played like champions, you should be very proud of them. Your coach had a brilliant game plan. Where were your fans? That was the worst crowd for a final I have ever seen. SK did not fill up half of one side in the lower seating. Your team deserved better!

A lot of Simon faithful have kids who have homework. Add construction on 71 and a hour drive. I really wished this game was played on a Saturday or Sunday! I for one have to get ready for work at 4am plus my son had a bunch of homework. If it wasn't for that I would have been at the game. I really wish SK was back in the 9th!

I was very surprised that SK made it to the finals to be honest with you.

Largest school in the 8th region! Can only beat the A and AA schools consistantly.

From what i am hearing with the re districting they will get their wish and head back North. Then they can be a below .500 team.

Good luck to SO at RUPP!

LOL...that's what we were thinking in 05 as well. Just never materialized as expected.

SK made it to the finals this year because the 8th region is horrible. No other way to say it. It's down from last year and it wasn't strong then either. We like playing our 9th region schedule for travel sake but haven't been shy about taking on the Oldhams in regular season play.

If your a SO fan headedforhome, not sure if you are, but good luck with Hoptown. Let us know how that turns out for you.
