Everyone like seeding the districts,so the so called best teams advance , whichn I am not a fan of. At least when they reach the regionals every team has a chance to advance as proven here. I still believe Mont, has the best team, but not on this given nite..

Further proof it's time for realignment.

 

First, congrats to the two NKY schools who will be playing at Rupp next week.

 

To the bolded, your posts are typically pretty solid jahearme, so this one puzzles me. The Northern Kentucky counties of Boone, Kenton and Campbell have 27 KHSAA basketball playing schools in it. No way they can all be lumped into one region, which means at least two NKY schools would have a chance every year. Walton especially seems a much better fit in the 8th than any other region. Campbell County certainly seems it belongs more in the 10th than a region that would include the Boone schools. So, I'm not sure why the beef with NKY having schools in three regions.

 

When realignment is announced, I will be surprised if schools from these three counties aren't still in three regions.

Northern Kentucky schools only make up one district out of four in the 10th Region. So while Simon Kenton and Campbell County may be the biggest schools in their respective regions, show many any region in the state where the biggest school annually wins the region tournament. It just doesn't happen, because winning regional tournaments are hard.

In regards to realignment, I have no problem with the placement of MOST of the teams right now in NKY. My biggest complaint is with the 10th. There is no reason whatsoever that Calvary Christian/Silver Grove and/or Scott should be in the same region as GRC and/or Montgomery Co. To me, it just doesn't make sense.

Obviously there's no simple solution and you are going to have some oddly shaped regions, but the 10th is a total disaster if you look at it on a map.

I really look for the 10th to go more north in the realignment and I see GRC going to the 11th and Montgomery Co. going to the 16th.

The 8th is no better. Simon Kenton is about 10 miles from, Scott, Campco, Brossart and they just drove an hour for their regional games. As did Campco and Brossart. Never be the perfect solution with the way the teams are located.

Seems like something is in the works?!? This is the first I've heard of it. Apparently there might be some thought on realignment.

I've heard for years that MoCo would go to the 16th and Clark to the 11th, but nothing much lately.

 

If someone out of the 10th is going to the 16th, I'd love to see Fleming County back in the 10th.

Simon Kenton (8th Region) - Holmes & Holy Cross (9th Region) - and Scott (10th Region) are about 5 -10 miles from one another.
