Dear Covington Catholic,

Featured Replies

I am happy that you guys won the 9th Region tournament and will be going to Rupp Arena. I have been waiting to see if your students can capture and captivate the audience again like they did eight (wow, 8?!) years ago. But here's my problem. I won't be there for the first round. I will be there for the quarterfinals. So you guys have to beat Clay County so I can see your performance. Deal?!

Sincerely,

P.S. - Oh, congratulations on winning the basketball game.

My entire family goes to the state tournament every year. They've asked me a thousand times, "Does CovCath have a chance to make it?" They love the student section & I wholeheartedly agree that they'll make the Sweet 16 experience a memorable one for those in attendance.

I'm looking forward to seeing their crowd as well.

The "Crazies" were out in force for the 9th Region finals Monday night.

Coach Ruthsatz made a special point of walking in front of the student section and bowing to them and saluting them following the victory. The KHSAA made a huge score in student (and overall) ticket sales when CovCath won the game. There was NO active student involvement from the Holmes side. I too am looking forward to seeing them in Rupp.

If you remember correctly the KHSAA created a special award for them the last time they were there.

Yes they did. I always love to watch the crazies. Sometimes I watch them more than I do the game. :lol2: My favorite they have done that I have seen is 'the shoe"

The "shoe" incident...if memory serves, was from the '04 tourney. Official lost a shoe on a trip up and down the court, "crazies " responded by offering one of their own. There used to be a shoe in the trophy case in honor of the crazies, may still be there, not sure.

My favorite...from the same tourney....a female official made a call the boys did not agree with...PMS chant immediately erupted.

I was thinking it was against Warren Central and a player lost the shoe.

Lonnell DeWalt had one of the most ridiculous tip-dunks I've ever seen in that game. I would have SWORN that kid was destined for stardom walking out of Rupp that day.

I wasn't there last night, but Sunday was the largest group of crazies I have ever seen.

My personal favorite is when the dance to "Party in the USA". I haven't seen in a while, but very amusing.

It most certainly could have been the player from WC...my memory is not what it once was...over 50 now:thumb:

Make sure you bring your binoculars to try and find them somewhere up in the rafters.

The crazies group was even bigger on Monday night. They pretty much filled the entire end zone.

Windmilled it. He caught it and windmilled it in one motion. I'll never forget it.
