Help me out. Ruthsatz pump fakes, brings the ball back in, glances for a split second at Bo and then launches his shoulder into Pangallo with his head down(never looked at the rim)...ball pops out. What makes it a shooting foul in your opinion?

Basketball awareness. History. A player is always trying to draw a shooting foul in that case. The fact that he doesn't get a legit shot off is irrelevant.

I'm not concerned with what the player was trying to do...that was obvious. My question more specifically is how a shot attempt is defined in the rule book. You can't assume a player is going to shoot 100% of the time when he has an option to pass.

No. Left foot was pivot foot.

He did lower the shoulder. Was a bad shot attempt. Reggie Miller-esque. Kobe-esque.

 

That was a close one. The lowering of the shoulder makes me lean offensive.

I have seen them call that ghost foul many times. You would think the Refs would be onto his shenanigans by now but I guess what better time to use it then in the Regional tournament with Refs who havent seen him.

Not even close to the same thing as in the other game if you SK me. The big difference being the defender was already right up against the offensive player in this video and the offensive p,Ayer just went up leaning into the defender. The CCH game Nick took 2 steps to even get to the defender to be able to make contact. Totally different.

 

The problem is in this case a foul should have been called on the defender. The defender was not set and had no position and was actually moving into Hatton even before the shot went up.

 

So in both instances the officials blew it IMO.

Those two plays are no where near similar.
