I missed you guys too....haha

Right now, it has to be Danny Wright of Lee but that could change depending on how the postseason unfolds!! I feel its his to lose!!

I think its about time Hollan has to coach, he's been blessed with great players since PCC started.

Great players are usless unless you have a great coach with a great system, which is what Holland is and has.He is hands down the best coach in this region, head and shoulders above the rest. One of the all time greats!

The only person here that has watched 56th district basketball longer than me is the Professor, maybe. Believe me when I say Lee County basketball was at the bottom. What Coach Wright has done is that he has completely revived interest in basketball, and has got the kids to stick with the program, rather than deciding at some point there is something they would rather do. He has made the team fun to watch, and certainly brings an unmatched passion to the game. His own coaching skills have improved tremendously over the past four years. True, the talent level is up, but would these kids still be around, and would they play has hard, but for Coach Wright?

BadCat,

Did you see where Mike Fields of the Lexington Herald-Leader picked Lee County to win the 14th in the Sunday paper? I picked them too, in my BGP Sweet 16 contest. If they play like they KNOW they're suppose to be there, play with confidence, and keep up the good D they've played all year, they will cut the nets down in the Morton Combs Athletic Complex.

Wright has done a great job with Lee. I would also like to say that John Noble at Buckhorn has done a good job. If he can get them to the region and make a good run he could be considered.

I think Coach Wright has got to be coach of the year. Lively at Jackson City would be my second choice. Wright has brought Lee Co. a long way from where it was when he started. He has also came a long way as a coach himself...although I must admit that I enjoyed watching him go psycho ball coach on the refs in his first couple of years coaching. Wright and Lively both have better players than have played at Lee and JCity in the past and I credit a lot of that to their coaching.

I would think that Coach Stepp from JBS would be considered a frontrunner, also.

I'd have to say Coach Wright - especially if they go to Semi's or beyond in the region. If so - he should be a shoe in.

Agreed, Professor sounds wise in his many years. :D

J/k, Coach Wright has brought Lee back to the promise land and seems to be huilding a program from the bottm up. he started off with a 5 win season and now only losing around 5 games. Hats off to Coach Wright and the progress he has made since he was hired. IMO Coach Wright will be teaching around Beatyville as long as he wants.

Coaches Spurlock, Lively and Hall must be in contention!

Yeah, Wright has done a great job, but What about Coach Spurlock from Hazard, turning his team around mid-way in the season from losing 6 of their first 10, to winning the 14th region. But anyways Good Job to both Coach Wright and Coach Spurlock.

Recognition from your peers means more than anything. Congratulations to Coach Lively and his staff for an amazing year.

What do you think? I say Danny Wright. When you think of where Lee County was (about 10 people at a game vs. Augusta in mid 90's), and where they are now (one of 14th Region favorites) I say he absolutely is deserving.

I'm slightly familiar with Lee County. Sounds like the coach has done a strong job.

Let's look at Spurlock over the last 4 years. He has won 3 All A regionals and an all A state title, The Defender of the Station tournament, Estill Counties tournament, 2 WYMT tournaments, a 14th Regional Tournament, and has close to 90 victories as the Bulldog's head coach. Not Bad!
