  1. Congrats Menifee. Nice win...they deserve a some success.
  2. Hazard in now my favorite to win it all. Hicks is a tough player...best gaurd in the region foe show.
  3. Congrats Kyle Howard. He is a big reason JCity has been able to turn things around this year. Best of luck to JCity in the future. If Coach Lively can keep winning in the future Kyle will be able to look back and feel good about helping to get the progam started in the right direction.
  4. I think it's going to be a great game. I'm going with Wolfe Co. by 3. I don't see JCity being able to stop Gilbert on the interior and Wolfe's defense looked better against Breathitt. Wolfe better get back though, or JCity will do a lay-up drill on them.
  5. Looks like Lee Co. is heading back to the big show. I think they have a good chance of winning it all and going to Rupp. Although I have to say my favorites for the region would be Leslie and Hazard.
  6. I called this upset...Cordia has some kids who can shoot and the rest know their roles. They're not a bad team. Cograts to the little school.
  7. I think the coach who wins the region should be coach of the year, now that Perry and cougars are out. I think that he did the best job in the regular season though.
  8. I'm going with Estill Co., it should be a good game though. I wish I could go watch it.
  9. I'm going with Estill Co., it should be a good game though. I wish I could go watch it.
  10. Going out on a limb and saying Cordia by 3. They have some shooters and I think they'll be on...if West Carter can beat Morgan Co. why not Cordia over LCC.
  11. Total shocker. I've seen Morgan play and they were for real. West must have really came to play...I always love to see a good upset. Kind of feel sorry for Morgan's fans and players though...seems like the school and community were really embracing their team and getting behind them for another trip to Rupp. Regardless of how many seniors they loose, I bet they will be a top team in the region again next year.
  12. Wolfe played an excellent game for them. They played much better defense and just flat out played harder than I was used to seeing them play. Gilbert was good as always, even with the hurt hand, but Stamper also impressed me. He played some very nice defense. Good win for the Wolves...Wolf vs. Jackson City will be a great game.
  13. I'm going with Lee by 15, but I know better than to count out any group of kids who were born and raised in Booneville...they have guts and will bring their all to the table come crunch time. I know that Lee Co. has to be hungry for a district title and a trip to the region though. Does anyone know when the last time they made it to the region was?
  14. I'm going to say Hazard by 1. But who knows. I do think that the winner of this game will win the 14th region...with Lee Co. having a shot to.
  15. I think Coach Wright has got to be coach of the year. Lively at Jackson City would be my second choice. Wright has brought Lee Co. a long way from where it was when he started. He has also came a long way as a coach himself...although I must admit that I enjoyed watching him go psycho ball coach on the refs in his first couple of years coaching. Wright and Lively both have better players than have played at Lee and JCity in the past and I credit a lot of that to their coaching.
  16. I just changed my mind...it has to be Gilbert for POY. He is the only kid in the region who would stand a chance of making the Kentucky All Star Team. I would love to see another 14th Region player make that team, and he might just have the skills to do it. Go Wolf Co. and Cody Gilbert.
  17. I see were your coming from Mtn. Warrior. It's been a while since I have seen a player put up numbers like Gilbert has this season. I heard he played a nice game against Lee Co. with a broke hand, that's impressive. Rich, Amos, and Wright don't put up numbers like Gilbert, but I think they do as much to help their teams win. I say the POY should go to which ever of these guys does the most to help there teams win their districts and the region. I will admit that Gilbert is the funnest to watch play though...even his defense is a little lacking.
  18. No question that Gilbert is the most talented player in the region...his numbers are unparalled. He's not my POY though. If he was that good Wolfe would have more wins...there's more to helping a team win than putting up big numbers. My top two are Rich @ Lee and Hicks of Hazard.
  19. If I coached at a small school and all of a sudden all the other schools in the 14th region were in the All A, I would boycott it. Why not just wait and play them all in the regular regional tournament.
  20. Heck, I don't blame the bigger schools for trying to get in and get a piece of the "All-A" action. If I was at a bigger school I would probably be trying to do the same thing. I agree with Snappy and you other guys though. Teams like Buckhorn, Jackson City, Lee Co., Owlsey, Wolfe, June-B...they should be playing against the schools that actually have a small number of students instead of schools that play with the numbers from different classes and from one year to the next so they can weasle their way in to the tourney. I think a good rule would be to change the eligibility requirements to having 450 students or less, grades 9-12, for 4 consecutive years. That would keep the small schools in and keep the larger schools from playing with their numbers in order to look smaller than what they really are.
  21. 1. HOOSIERS !!!!! 2. The Pistol 3. Coach Carter Central/Southern Indiana and Eastern Kentucky are greatest places in the world to play high school basketball. Hoosiers captures the essence of what makes playing there so special. Even though the film takes place in Indiana... anyone who has played in the mountains and is from a small town were basketball is king...like Booneville, Beatyville, Campton, West Liberty, ect. understands why it has to be #1.
  22. Rumor has it that Gilbert will play. If he can score big with a broken shooting hand and pull 10-15 rebounds left handed, the Wolves will have a chance. If not...Lee by 20 or more.
  23. I think its ridiculus to let a 2A football school play in the All A basketball tourney.
