Pendleton County Coaching Change???

Featured Replies

Some might say it was a deal arranged two years ago when Coach cravens was hired. The statement by him in post 13 leads me to believe there may be some truth to that.Having said that' date=' I totally support the choice of Keaton belcher should that materialize.[/quote']

If it was prearranged last time why didn't it happen?

A few possible Mason County assistants could potentially be in the running for the job, Brad Cox played and coached there. Chris Stapleton started his coaching career there. He also has lots of connections with a lot of the young players coming up.

Did you realize Brad and Keaton are related....

The reason I might give Mike Listerman as a viable candidate credence is that he lives in Southern Campbell County.

He also is a former head coach at Harrison County, but that's been a looonnngg time ago (mid-80's).

How about Mike Reitz?

Usually coaches like Listerman or Reitz go where there is a strong returning class, special freshman class, middle school, etc. The times that I have seen PC over the years I haven't seen any of this. That's why I think Belcher.

Can't see Listerman in this role, regardless of his living situation. There are politics, as with any head coaching position. Belcher would be a great coach at PC, understands the game as it is played today and has instant credibility. Not sure what happened at PC with the crowd, but it sounds as if it shameful. Coach Cravens is a great guy who has earned his place in NKY basketball….PC fans can be tough, but….

If there was an incident created by the PC student body, I would hope this would be addressed by the administration.

Coach Cravens is one of the most humble and classiest coaches that I have ever had the privilege of knowing. First Class husband, dad, coach, and friend to high school athletics. He taught my daughter (as the Varsity Coach @ CC) the value of hard-work, Teamwork, and fairness (on and off the court).

Well stated for a guy that can speak on behalf of the camel faithful

Experienced the same thing when he coached boys and girls at Silver Grove. Always had the kids best interests at heart and represented himself and the school well. Coach Cravens will always be considered a class act in my book. There's a lot more to coaching at the HS level than wins and losses.

The job has now officially been posted.

I guess it's always good to speculate on the "big" name magic but if I were one of the PC faithful, I'd be pushing hard to get Keaton Belcher hired. He's already in the system is a distinguished Alum and is one of the greatest guys on the planet. IMO, I think it's going to take someone like Keaton and some time (Rome wasn't rebuilt in a Day)to rebuild the entire program from the ground up.

It won't take as long to build it back up as you might think. This is a program only two years removed from a threepeat of 38th district. The varsity struggled last year but the JV, Freshman, and 8th grade all had winning records. There are some players coming up at every position and actually some height, a rarity for PC. Not saying PC will win a region at all but the district will be doable soon and they should be competitive. Keaton Belcher would be a good choice going forward with the potential coming up.
