Jumper_Dad Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 2 former Navy SEALs found dead aboard ship at center of ?Captain Phillips? saga | Fox News
sportsfan41 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Certainly something to pay close attention to in the coming days. Will be interesting to see how this all unfolds, certainly thoughts and prayers to the families of the 2 former SEALS.
Hellbird Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Mountain Ref claiming the US Gov't had them killed in 3.......2.......1......
theguru Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Does anyone have anymore details on this? If someone goes after Navy Seals and succeeds that is a force to be reckoned with.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Note To Self: Stay off of cargo ships...permanently.
Bert Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Note To Self: Stay off of cargo ships...permanently. Its getting to the point where these cargo ships need an entire platoon of security.

Jumper_Dad Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 These guys are part of a private security detail that was on the ship. I was reading that since the Capt Phillips episode that Pirates tried to take the ship again but this time the ship had armed security that used small arms and those focused audio weapons to drive them away.

As well armed as the pirates are sometimes, I wonder why they restrict themselves to small arms? I would be tempted to have Browning 50 Cal.s mounted on the ships.

Clyde Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 This is one of those " I hate it for the individuals and their families BUT...they are taking on extremely risky work." Sadly, it's going to happen too often when you're in that line of work.

I haven't heard if it was a Pirate attack, got killed by someone aboard ship or they blew themselves up with a hand grenade...no idea what happened.
Voice of Reason Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 From the linked article: Details of the contractors' deaths remain unclear, but they were not on watch and did not die while performing a security operation, Tom Rothrauff, the president of the Trident Group, said. He said an initial assessment of the scene did not suggest any foul play.
