All In Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Saw a news report that said many schools are trying to get to the 20 missed days total for bad weather in order to get 10 emergency days from the State. I know that Mason County has missed at least 5 days more than smaller County Schools that border them and thought this was a loop hole that many schools are using in order not to give up their spring break and to get out on their scheduled time
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Honestly, the counties surrounding Jefferson have to be darn close to 20. They have been out more than they've been in since the beginning of January.
All In Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Its a joke in our area about Mason County's cancellations due to cold weather, but they may get the last laugh if they get the State emergency days and get their spring break, state tournament days and get out 2 weeks before everyone else in June

I really hope this isn't the case.
All State Baseball Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Estill has went to school like twice since Christmas. They could have went today. Their on a two-hour delay tomorrow.
BigVMan23 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 15 days missed so far for Anderson County. Did go today.
Theoldguy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 How can a school district do this, and say they value education at the same time? I really hope this isn't the case. But yet.... Mason County has played 22 basketball games Roberston County has played 22 basketball games Bracken County has played 22 basketball games Pendleton County has played 22 basketball games Seems these schools and some more, have played more games during the last month or so, than their students have attended days of school! Please explain?
Randy Parker Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 ^ Basketball > Education I'm just kidding. No I'm not.

I've never heard a school district say this. I only hear people say this when basketball games are played on a day when school was closed.

Please explain? Playing devils advocate here...missed snow days can be added by taking away previously scheduled days off (teachers work days, etc.) or adding to the end of the year. Can't play basketball games in May, little too late by then.
nees1212 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 If I'm not mistaken, Pendleton County has already missed 18.
mcpapa Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I can't speak for Mason County schools, but in the past - when calamity days were offered, they refused them.
