I really don't know why this thread is all about Mason County. Mason has missed something like 16 days and I believe they have refused days from the State again. Why is Lewis or Fleming not in the Title? I believe they have missed more than Mason. I kept my granddaughter at least two days that Fleming was out that Mason went to school. When Mason played Nicholas, they said thay had missed 22 days. Sounds like All In may just have a problem with Mason!

 

The state does not offer days. You have to apply to the Commissioner. Nobody will have done that yet for snow or weather. Way to early to consider.

Not so much a problem, but a wonder an how they are able to accomplish things. According to a teacher I know at Mason County, I believe they have missed 19 days. They were out at least 4 days of late that their neighboring county of Bracken went to school, they started school at least a week later than most schools, but somehow they will get out before everyone else. I would think Mason County, over all of the other schools you mentioned above, would have more money(taxes) for a better road department and better resources to keep school in session, that's why they were singled out in the thread title. When I heard about the 20 day miss law(?), I thought this is how they were getting it done because the last 4 days that they have missed were laughable. Would bet they will be out before Memorial Day without missing spring break or State Tournament, just a thread for thought.

The biggest issue with all of the missed dates are graduation dates. It is getting close to make decisions on printing announcements, determining where and Senior schedules for graduation, etc. The commissioner will give breaks for this if it gets really late, but the other grade levels will have to attend them all.

Not if their students haven't attended 175 days of school. Guaranteed.

I believe Mason is looking at June 6 and is going to school during the State Tournament. Spring break was a week and is now down to two or three days. I am sure they missed all those snow days so they could go to school in sunny June especially when school starts back in early August.

June 6 is what I'm hearing. I have no idea how that compares to neighboring school districts - and I sure don't know when each of the other districts started their calendars, how many inclement weather days they've missed, etc.

 

I do think that the inference that somehow little old Mason County has managed to manipulate the system, get out of school before Memorial Day, take time off for the state tournament, etc. while its neighboring brethren slave away in their classrooms have not - is about the funniest thing I've heard in a month of Sundays. :clap:
