We were sitting right next to the CCH student section. I think it was Heppler who was throwing an ally oop to Schuh. Shuh was pushed under the backboard, the ball passed under the rim and hit the net giving the illusion that it went thru. The Cooper player took the ball out of the air, stepped back and inbounded the ball - apparently thinking it went through himself. The score keeper gave CCH 3 points after Cooper inbounded the ball, who then went down and hit a quick two. The game was then stopped while the referees conferred. They could have decided to take away both teams baskets, or leave both teams baskets. They chose the latter.

 

We were clearly sitting near each other and saw it the exact same way. Apparently the video shows it went in, but I can't get it to work for me. Was a strange couple of minutes, to be sure.

That is what we saw also. I'm really curious to see the video since the link isn't working that pAnda posted. I'd love to see if it was the Cooper video from the side of the court and not one from behind the basket because if it is from one of the ends it would be hard to tell because as you said the ball went right under the rim and depending on the angle of the camera )if it was from behind the basket you really couldn't tell unless you are able to slow it down to where the ball is half over/under the rim so you can see the ball or the rim itself.

Great shots Panda, I especially love the faces of the CovCath staff and players when McNeil's long three at the buzzer was in-flight.

 

Also, great shot of Marvin Jones in picture #79. I also love that you see fans actually enjoying a beverage in the stands, a tell-tale sign this game was NOT held at CovCath.

That would have been correct, yes. The game was lopsided when it occurred, about 35-20 or 35-22, and it didn't really feel yet like Cooper was going to come back. However, obviously, it didn't end up being a dramatic last few minutes. As I mentioned above, and full credit to Coach Sullivan and Cooper, that 2nd half was as average as CovCath has looked all year. Again, credit for that clearly goes to Cooper and their staff and kids.

It was just a very weird incident and as I stated in my first post about it, because it was so odd, that I may have been wrong in the way things unfolded on that. One thing is for sure though, from where we were sitting (and again with Cov Cath fans) we all saw the ball go under the rim. either way I will not sit here and say it dictated the outcome of the game. You will never know that, but it was 3 pts that were given when instead it should of been CCH inbounding the ball.

 

 

I think more Cooper fans would take the shooting foul on Z McNeil at the end over the 3 pt basket that wasn't lol.

 

There also was another officiating mistake at the end of the game. When McNiel was fouled at the end of the game, the cooper players went to their sideline for what looked to be a Timeout, but Cooper was out of TO's so the refs made them go back to the court...could of been a technical against Cooper.

Look at the names in the book, said Conner but names were CCH. THat is why I took the pic.

Either way, non of the officiating gaffs could take anything away from one heck of a game.

It was an instant classic.
