There is no doubt in my mind that he was in the act of shooting. He had already picked up his dribble with both hands and was stepping into launching it from mid court. A lot of crazy things happened in this one that really leaves you thinking, what if???

 

Ruth had two potential and-1's, where he had "picked up his dribble", and both calls were determined to be on the floor. The call on McNeil was similar to those, just 40' from the basket.

I'm nearly positive it went from 35 to 38 while Cooper was pushing it up.

 

I am with you that the ball didn't go in. I stand by the fact that the Cooper kid walking it out of bounds and inbounding it threw everyone off.

 

The refs didn't huddle until after Cooper's subsequent 2 points were also on the board.

I can live with that story of what occured. It was just very odd the way it played out. The only thing I was certain of was the shot didn't go in and that is why thought Cooper was throwing it inbounds because they thought it was an out of bounds play on CCH but you are right he did catch the ball and looked as if he stepped out to throw it in.

 

All I know, and we were sitting right there next to the CCH student section which was right there at the basket, it was a missed shot.

 

 

Cant say it cost the game for Cooper because if the officials would of called it correctly it would of been CCH's ball because cooper went out of bounds with it.

I suspect a video with surface proving it one way or the other.

For the record, the score keeper does not decide if a basket is good or not. The ref made no signal, so they assumed the basket was good because Cooper inbound the ball. Shakey crew that just missed a call and a decision was made that proved costly according to the score. Either way, game is over CCH got the win. You never want to say a ref decides a game, but they sure can change one. At one point CCH was up 7 to 1 on foul count, game should have been put away there, but the jags kept battling and came up just short.

If indeed the shot was no good and the Cooper player stepped out of bounds to inbound the ball, then the two points that Cooper scored on the other end would not have counted and it would have been CovCath ball!

 

I will agree with you, the stripes blew the play but I am telling you the ball went in as did paNDA tell you the ball went in and indeed the Cooper player stepped out of bounds to in-bound the ball.

Maybe Zach should have flopped. That seemed to get R to the line several times tonight.

And by the way, the effort put forth by Cooper was amazing. Those kids can shoot and the dunk early in the game was sweet. The Enquirer guy showed me his picture of that.

This is only good for the game. I love it because it adds to the build up if these two meet again in the tourney.

TOG, to be fair, no one in the building had a worse angle on that play than you. Panda was close, and we simply disagree, but your angle was bad (and behind the glass).

 

You're right, should have been CovCath ball where the kid stepped out.

 

Hopefully the Zapruder film surfaces soon. I'm guessing if it was in fact short, which I believe it was, Cooper will provide it quickly.
