One night I preached a mini sermon about the escessiveness of $200 headphones and how if my kids thought that we were a $200 headphone family they were clearly wrong.

 

Currently we own 3 pair.

 

I can completely see ALL of that post happening. That is awesome stuff.

Do you want noise canceling headphones? I used to have a pair of Sonys that were really nice. I'm sure the Bose noise canceling are good as well.

 

What is important to you? Comfort? Sound quality? Price?

 

I've tried more than a dozen sets of cans and I settled on the Audio Technica set that Habib mentioned early in this thread. If your primary goal is clarity (which is most important to me) then these are the best and they're $150. The sound quality is amazing.

 

The Beats sound awful to me, but it's probably because I'm used to the ATs.

I've had two pairs of Beats, currently still have one. There are equal/better headphones for less, definitely. But anybody that says they've listened to a $25 pair of headphones that sound better than Beats, I definitely question that. The bass response in them is unreal. Noise cancelling is excellent, especially on the "bigger," over-ear models. As has already been stated, Audio Technica and Klipsch are also two very good earphone brands. I sell all of them, and we sell a lot of all three.

Are they worth $250+? Probably not, but what is anymore? People pay $10K more for a Toyota with an "L" on it. Same thing here. Great product that you pay a little more because of the brand but still one of the best products out there.

Their customer service seems to be pretty good.

Sennheiser HD280 Pro would be my recommendation for comfort, quality, durability, and price.

 

$75-80 (they used to be $200)

I'm not a music guy so high dollar headphones just isn't something I value enough to spend money on. However, I have spent $200+ on things that I'm sure would make some of you scratch your head and I do it because it is worth it to me.

I got some Beats for Christmas and can't describe how happy I am with them. They are definitely expensive, no doubt, but if you're going to be using headphones as much as you are why not have a really good pair? The sound quality to me is incredible and I feel like there's sounds in the music I had never heard before I had them. But, like others said, I am sure there are plenty of quality pairs for cheaper... just depends on how much you value a good pair of headphones.

This. If you're not an audiophile, or listen to music A LOT, you probably don't want Beats. I listen to music every single day, either for recreation or for my DJ'ing, and I love my Beats.

Ear buds? I've never used any Beats buds so I honestly couldn't speak on them.
