I have supplied a list. I don't care who you drop from the UK signees. I just want to know why the players that were signed with other FBS schools can not play of UK. If they can play of Louisville, OSU, and WKU why not UK? The name on the UK jersey will mean more to them then to second, third and fourth tier players from other states that ended up at UK because they didn't get the offers they wanted. And, I think they will produce because of that fact.

 

Clyde has defended in-state player for choosing UK (not a football power) over out-of-state power football programs saying they chose UK because it was their dream to play for UK and they want to be a part of it. Good for them, but if that is true, then the same could be said for the other in-state players who have the talent to play for other FBS schools.

I listed virtually all the in-state players that signed with FBS schools. I made the comment about UK should get 20 in-state players, and it was disputed. I listed 26 players that signed with UK, UL, OSU and WKU and said 20 was not that far fetched. Then it was claimed that WKU didn't play in the SEC (like it always is) and I said something about WKU beat UK the last two years, and someone said UK is not trying to beat WKU, they are trying to win SEC games. I said something about "if a school that beats you wants a kid, you should want that kid". Many people said, "there's not enough in-state talent", I said Louisville found enough with Petrino part 1, then he was doing it at WKU as well. But, UK is in a basketball state was the next excuse. I asked why other programs can be successful in both basketball and football to get that one.

 

That should bring you up to speed.

 

I think that is an over-simplistic view isn't it? Sure UK lost to WKU but that doesn't mean UK should want every player that WKU wants. That same WKU team was smashed by a bad Tennessee team 52-20. I don't think UK's goal should be to get those players that WKU did to improve their record by one game. As for Petrino doing that at WKU, that's just patently ridiculous. Petrino was at WKU exactly one year--the players he recruited to WKU had little to no impact on that game.

 

If Kentucky regularly produced 20 BCS conference level players I could see your argument but the fact is they don't. As for other programs having success in both football and basketball it is hard to think of one from a state with as small a population base that regularly does so in a conference like the SEC.

My head is spinning from this. Best class in history of the program but not enough KY kids. But if you get those KY kids then this class isn't that good. This is ridiculous to even be debating this. Ram, who are you a fan of?

Name 1 kid from a BCS school they didn't offer. And if you want to keep pointing fingers at WKU, name any that had offers from BCS schools. We'll wait...

1. Who said that the kids you referenced can't play for UK? It's not a yes or no debate. UK went out and got who they think are the best players for them. The fact that a kid got offered by UL/WKU/whomever doesn't mean that UK says "can't play for us."

I said that most of them can't play for UK. Maybe in the past but it's a new era now. Not all D1 talent is equal.

Clyde, I'm not trying to be defensive, but it's like I'm having multiple conversations at the same time and no one knows what I've said to other people. I'm not searching for the posts, but over the years people have asked why a player would choose UK over other big schools and you have said that some want to play of UK over everyone else because UK is Kentucky. Surely you remember saying that on multiple occasions.

Something that I think would help this discussion, list the rankings on these players. How do these players stack up in the rankings? If every player WKU signed from KY is a one star or less, then are they a UK calibre recruit?

You do know WKU is FBS, right? Not sure what you mean by the BCS part of your question.

BCS- SEC, B1G, ACC, Big 12, PAC 12

 

CUSA, Mac, etc are FBS but are mid major compared to the rest

 

And I don't know if they offered anyone you mentioned. Bonnifon was probably the closest but they have enough QBs and have better options at WR.

Evidently talent doesn't matter, if your from KY your automatically better than any out of state player UK signed
