There is a deadline on those dates, however, I feel certain an AD could probably request a change of those dates to correspond with the hiring of a new coach...no reason the KHSAA couldn't allow it for unseen circumstances. They had exceptions in the past, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Spring football scheduling is a little different now. I believe you can set your own dates, unlike in the past when schools were much more reliant upon when basketball ended. So if the hiring goes a little longer, that shouldn't affect spring ball. What could be affected, however, is the weight program.

 

I know the schools can set the dates for spring ball. My thinking is if they wait until March to name a coach and he gets settled in then it could be to late or not able to have spring practice. Don't know if there is such a thing as to late for spring ball?? Not saying that will happen....just using that as a scenerio!!

Most don't do it until after Spring Break, now... So even if they don't hire until mid-March, that would give whomever they hire a month or so to settle and plan practices.

Coach Owens is running the weight room so everything is progressing fine in that area.....

Amazing, it only took Tom Jurich 3 days to hire Petrino. The 30 day rule does not apply if there is a vacancy. Must be someone inside that does not want Perry, because this a no brainer. Everyone today wants to act like this is the Happy Valley of High School football. If I was Perry and have been apart of 7 State Champions, it would be a huge step down. He may ought to re-think his decision and move on. This is becoming a joke, and I thought that the Supt. would not let this happen. Very Sad for the Players.

would be a great hire, he is not the only great hire that can come

out of this... 21 applicants and several with formidable reputations

I find it hard to believe that they don't care what the community wants. I would think anyone hiring for any position anywhere would need to pick the person that is best for that job, at that time, in that circumstance. Does it always turn out right? No. But that's the same with any job. Hiring teachers doesn't always work out. Hiring state workers doesn't always work out. Hiring fast food workers doesn't always work out. Heck, ask Mitch Barnhart how a couple of his hires worked out? Did he really not care what the community wanted?

 

I suspect that whoever Garrard hires will suit a majority of the people and a minority will not be happy. But that's the way with everything.

From all accounts that is the process they are following. I suspect that's the process most schools follow.

Lot of people on this thread that are going to find "something" wrong with whatever GC does. Those people probably shouldn't be worried about the hire nor any other hires at the school. :idunno: They will do the right thing.
