Are all high school coaching searches this quiet? As in no names have been released as to who has applied or anything like that? Maybe I'm just impatient... :idunno:

Seems to be the trend, which truth be told, is a good thing.

 

Central Hardin just made a hire and for 30 days nobody, and I mean nobody knew a thing.

 

Logan County hired Steven Duncan away from Murray, nothing was heard about that up until the last couple days before it was actually made official.

 

I didnt hear a sniff of the Fairview hire until it was made.

 

Paducah Tilghman, a lot of guesses, but nobody knows.

 

Murray, nothing has been spoken about; not even speculation.

 

Bad thing for message board chatter, great thing for the schools, coaches and their families involved.

I think searches should be handled this way... It doesn't do anyone any good for everybody to know everything. That said, I wouldn't exactly call this one "quiet." A few names are already out there. I just don't think we are going to have A name for a little while.

Just because he retires as a teacher, doesn't mean he has to retire as a coach... In fact, I would argue that is an ideal situation. He is still pretty young... late 40s, early 50s, maybe?

surely they know his intentions, I doubt that he would conceal his desire to retire from teaching. I know he has made it pretty clear over at DHS

It should only come into question if he intends on coach only until he retires......that can easily be cleared up by asking if he intends on coaching after retirement. No school would want to hire a coach if he is only going to coach and teach for a couple of years but with that said....there are no guarantee's that any coach they hire will stay any longer.

No reason why you couldn't eliminate at least half of them right off the bat.

IMO, they need to get a coach hired so the kids can go through spring ball with their new coach......that may be the intention of the school...who knows!

 

Spring football scheduling is a little different now. I believe you can set your own dates, unlike in the past when schools were much more reliant upon when basketball ended. So if the hiring goes a little longer, that shouldn't affect spring ball. What could be affected, however, is the weight program.
