C'mon JOAT, it's clear as day. He said since HHS closed its gates to the outside, that all those outside kids have given Highlands the advantage over everyone else.

You are correct in saying there is only one Dale Mueller. And no coach should try and copy him because they wont be able to. Coach W has already started implementing his leadership and teaching as seen in workouts. Workouts are on Monday, Wednesday, and Funday. Don't ask! Lol!

What did the Colonels lose on the offensive lines?

 

I know a CCH lineman who is as strong as an ox and eats like one too. Really hoping he gets some pt this year!

Bluedad, I believe you have a mix up. LB Ethan Sammons played valuable minutes and started a few games with Burchell injury, not Kathman. If I am right, and I could be wrong but, I believe Kathman moved to DB position.

 

# 44 Sammons rising 10th grader, had a total of 12 tackles 8/4. Good young player, smart, athletic!

 

# 40 Kathman rising 11th grader, had a total of 16 tackles 12/4 strong, quick, likes to hit, played at times both at LB and DB!

 

#29 Shelton rising 9th grader, had a total of 5 tackles 3/2. Played more than you would think as a Freshmen on CovCath Varsity. Played mostly special teams but did find himself on the turf even more so than just spot duty. Good size for a 9th grader, good speed, loves to hit and hits hard, football smart, and loves to work out. You will be hearing more of him this coming season!

You mention that the upcoming Sr and Jr classes are even and the Soph class has a leg up. Just curious what you are basing this on? If I recall, the Senior class to be defeated CovCath twice, the Junior class to be won by more than a touchdown and CovCath scored late in that game to make it an 8 point deficit and the Soph class to be was only defeated 13 to 10 I believe by what many have said is CovCath's best frosh team in many years. JV scores really mean nothing and they did not even play this year. Just curious what you perceive as the advantages that CovCath has over HHS and vice versa.

 

It's all a matter of how the classes compliment each other. This upcoming Senior Class for CCH will leave its mark on the program. The Underclassman will have a stamp as well.

 

To your point, this group of Seniors for CCH to be played JV as sophomores. The HHS team that held onto victory in large part due to an offsetting penalties following a play which would have given CCH 1st and goal from the two. Then a member of the chain crew was penalized twice for 15 yards each and CCH, faced with 3rd and forever did not pick up the first. CCH lost the game.

 

Also a point to mention is that the CCH team played 90% sophomores in the game (Current Senior Class) and HHS played 90% Juniors, and their RB was actually a Senior.

 

The past does not matter. Both CCH and HHS will strap em up and play.

 

Should be a fun season.

I expect the two will be much closer concerning overall talent level than we have seen in a while. Should make for some very good games.

TOG, do you see Sammons playing MLB or an outside backer? Where does Shelton fit in, I believe he was middle for Freshman. Will they plan on moving Shelton to an outside backer spot? Pitzer is outside clearly. Timmerman is definitely a middle backer, he has the body for it. -very big and strong kid.

Agree. I am sure a couple upcoming seniors that haven't been mentioned will have something to say about the LB positions as well.
