Best bbq joint around the state

Featured Replies

I used to stop there every couple weeks to pick something up for lunch either going to or coming from NKU. Loved that place.

Sure do wish we had a good bbq place close.

The best BBQ in Nky & Cincy is Eli's BBQ. It is located just across the river on Riverside Dr. If your from NKy I suggest you try it. It's gooooooood!!!!!

I am heading there Saturday for the first time. I have heard nothing but good things.

What is WKY bbq all about? For us mutton virgins, how does it compare to beef/pork bbq?

I'm a BIG bbq fan...why I started the thread. But as far as mutton...I never acquired a taste for it. It has a VERY strong, distinct...almost gamey flavor is how I would describe it. Heck, I don't even know a lot of why people that eat it personally, but I'm sure enough do.

Southern Smoke BBQ in Newport brand new place! Stuff is of the hook good!!

That should have read, I don't even know a lot of WKY people that eat it.

Your taste buds are broken...

Smokey Pig in Bowling Green and R&S BBQ in Thompkinsville are some of my favorite in the BG area. I'm not the biggest fan of Roy's in Russellville.

I never see it served in far Western Kentucky.

Martha's; Murray. Not "just" a bbq joint as they have an extensive home cooking menu. I usually get the smoked turkey here, though they have pork as well. Very good homemade sauce. Homemade pies are to DIE for!

I seldom go to Martha's because of the smoke, but I never rated their BBQ all that high. The best in Murray is Bad Bob's BBQ. It is where the old T.J.'s BBQ is located if you remember it.

I spoke about our experience there in another thread. It wasn't good...

Tried to eat there on our way to Nashville. Unfortunately it was closed for a couple of weeks.
