Dinner: what did you have?

Featured Replies

My schedule is so screwed up that I went without eating one thing all day Tuesday. I stopped at a bar about 6 and just drank a beer and left for card game and the next thing you know it was midnight and it hit all of sudden that I was starving. So I left and hit the waffle house. Ham and cheese omelet hash browns toast and a waffle. Haha

I love me some Waffle House people-watching.

Swiss steak, noodles, peas.

Grilled up some premarinated turkey from Kroger with mashed potatoes and broccoli.

Sushi and fired rice at Wild Ginger.

I did see a lady come in sit down and order while drinking from a dairy queen cup and ate her food while drinking it.

You seem like a guy that likes to risk a dollar or two.

What are the odds that what was in her DQ cup wasn't 100% coffee?

That entered my mind, but she seemed pretty sober. Just don't see someone have a drink from a different restaurant than the 1 they are dining in.

Far East Bound & Down O’Round

at Shamrock Bar & Grill on Patchen Dr

O’Round with a dollop of Sriracha, fire roasted green chiles, pepperjack cheese, finished with garden fresh leaf lettuce, diced red onion, and a hand breaded, Panko fried green tomato with a butter grilled bun lathered with Sriracha aioli.

I checked out the link you posted and this is the one I really wanted to try. I will have to fry green tomatoes and put on my next burger.

I also would like to try the Best Friend Burger.

OK give us a rundown on this one. Then after you have dined on all of them tell us your favorite.

Are any of these places close to the Hamburg area?

Really good. Nice spice, but not hot, just good zip. 6oz burger, was all about the combo of ingredients as opposed to being about the beef.

I give a nod to the The Cellars Bulleit Burger. The beef was front and center with excellent complimentary flavors.

Prolly do another tomorrow.

The closet to Hamburg would prolly be one of the Richmond Rd places.

I went with my, soon to be, son-in-law to a new place on Central Avenue in St. Pete called The Brick and Mortar Bistro. Nice little place with an eclectic menu. He's having my daughter's surprise birthday party there this Saturday, and wanted me to check it out.

I had...

Grilled Romaine Heart covered with shaved Parmesan, pickled red onion, and creamy blue cheese & lemon-garlic dressing.

Then...

Seared espresso rubbed slow braised short ribs. with roasted Brussels sprout leaves and shaved Parmesan.

I washed it down with a beer called Cream and Sugar. It is a Coffee Porter from Cycle Brewery, which is right across the street from the bistro. Wow, was it smooth. We went over to the Brewery later and found out that the beer is brewed with coffee beans from Mazzaro's Italian Market on 22nd St., St. Pete.

Soup beans with country ham and zucchini relish; cornbread; new potatoes, boiled then sliced in half and deep fried; braised kale with minced garlic.

We had jumbo shrimp and broccoli in a hot/sweet chili sauce served over noodles. I didn't have the noodles because I don't like pasta. For dessert fresh peaches from Georgia....they were soooo good. Bought a whole box from C&H Citrus that comes to Mt. Sterling every summer with the peaches. In the winter months I get their oranges.

Oh also had fresh cucumbers and tomatoes out of my garden.

Went to Lynaugh's for their Voodoo Burger.

The root beer glaze was a little sweet for my taste. Burger was well prepared.

I would rate it 3rd of the ones I've had so far.
