Me and Ms. Slick almost drove there Sunday for dinner. It's been a while but usually solid food.

Blackened cod fish, shrimp wrapped in bacon, rice with broccoli and cheese and steamed asparagus. Nectarines with feta cheese for dessert.

Tonight Ground chuck cheese burgers. Son will have blue cheese on his and hubby and I will have velveeta I slice real thick. Fried new red potatoes. Dessert for me, jello with mandarin oranges, cottage cheese and maraschino cherries.

Deer burgers last night with asparagus. Leftovers for lunch today.

Have you ever tried elk? I like it better.

I haven't but I wouldn't be afraid to try it. I get the ground up deer for free from my girlfriend's family. I rather enjoy deer already but it being free makes it taste just a tad better haha!

Making shepherd's pie, as we speak.

Cubed up a pound of leg of lamb, tossed it in a little flour, and browned it up with a little olive oil in the dutch over on the stovetop. Removed the meat from the dutch oven, added in a couple of chopped leaks, and about a cup to cup and a half each of chopped celery and chopped carrots. Sweated the vegetables in the same dutch oven, added a 1/4 cup of dry red wine, a dark beer, 3 cups of beef broth, 3 or 4 bay leaves, and a few sprigs of fresh thyme. Added the browned meat back in and simmered it down to a stew.

While the stew was simmering, I took about 1-1/2 pounds of potatoes and made mashed potatoes (had to add in a little lowfat sour cream and butter...just because). Took a deep 9x9 casserole, filled it just over half way with the lamb stew, poured some frozen peas over that, and then filled the casserole the rest of the way with the mashed potatoes and stuck it under the broiler in the oven. Can't wait to get it out of the oven!

Greek pasta salad and manwiches.

Pork roast and mashed cauliflower.

My brother killed a elk on my mom's farm. It doesn't have that 'Wild" taste that deer sometimes has. My men will each kill a deer each season. We have a freezer just for deer and fish they catch.
