So you answered your own question! It's a rule and most as you said observe the rule and for a reason, as the majority of Teachers believe, School is more important than sports!

 

I don't think anyone on here would disagree that school is more important than sports but sometimes roads are not safe at 6:00 am when the decision has to be made about school and then clear off in the afternoon so why cancel a game just because the roads were bad 12 hours before the game started. Rural schools with lots of back roads to cover would miss too many games if under a no school no play poicy. As far as the cold goes, if my son was going to be traveling on a bus today he would have had on coat, gloves, hat, and has been known to have a snuggie on the bus so if there had been a break down I'm sure he would have been fine for the 20 mins or so it would have taken me to get there to get him. A little preparation and common sense is all it takes.

George Rogers Clark and Bourbon County girls and boys doubleheader set for Tuesday (Jan. 7) has been canceled.

The boys game is rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Norton Gymnasium.

The girls game has been rescheduled and will be played at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Norton Gymnasium.

Most schools would probably let them play if it weren't for the likliehood of a lawsuit you would probably settle if something happened, especially when others cancel and you don't. It isn't right, but administrators, really have no choice. It may be mamby-pamby, but it is what it is. They will get them made up in most cases.

Too cold, that's a bunch of "bunk". :ohbrother: I was out in it all day yesterday and today. I can guarantee "countless" high schoolers left their houses the past 2 days to; see boyfriends/girlfriends, hang out with friends or go to the Mall. Kids today need to be "toughened up", but are "too pampered" by the adults in charge that were once "hall monitors". Plus, today's society is way too litigious.

The Canadians where I spend the summer would laugh at us.

 

The have a bus on tracks that gets them around. Because there are no hills they rarely have "snow days" although there might be three feet of snow on the ground. They also have snowshoes.

Well, it went up a couple of degrees so it will be ok to play tonight. I sure hope the heaters in the bus doesn't go out, hope the kids don't get frost bite and sure hope there are no law suits.
