They put up quite a few shots actually but the majority of their shots got swatted right back at them.

The OJ and Bill to OSU rumor has been flying around for months. What has been said IS the wake forest coach is leaving, the West Virginia coach is going after that job, leading the OSU coach to pursue the WVU job (completely stupid with his incoming talent, this has to be false) and then Huggins to be inline for the OSU job, bringing his good friends Bill and OJ with him.

 

The only part of this that has any truth is the fact that Bob Huggins has a strong relationship with Bill and OJ, the rest of it makes no sense.

This is the first I have heard of this scenario. One of the rumors flying has Wake Forest's Prosser to Cincinnati, West Virginia's Beilein to somewhere, and Huggy to his alma matar, West Virginia. O.J. and company would then follow Huggy to WVU.

Would the 6'11 kid that was kicked off the team recently had made a difference in the game for North Hill? I believe he was averaging 14 ppg.

Only if he can rebound. Walker and Mayo were the best offensive players, but Oak Hills plays a great team game. They can all hit open shots. No one from NCH stopped dribble penetration and I don't think that Mayo moved his feet on D until they went on their run in the early fourth quarter. It would be interesting to see Mayo and Walker playing w/ kids around their talent level b/c you could tell that they wanted to work the ball, but had no confidence in their teammates.

Thank you. I went to this game (all 3, actually) and OJ Mayo is a great player; however, he forced a lot of shots and did not impress me in the first half. In the 2nd half he settled down some and was impressive, making quite a few very difficult shots.

 

The reason NCH's other players did not perform well is simple - they're not talented enough. OJ & Bill Walker can play with the guys from Oak Hill, but when the rest of NCH drove the lane the only question was whether or not the ball would stay in-bounds after the block.

 

Oak Hill is amazing. I have watched them twice now and they were awesome both times. Once was a few years ago (Jules Camara, Kevin Lyde & Company).

 

FWIW, OJ Mayo was not the best player on the floor. Tywon Lawson (Oak Hill PG - UNC Recruit) was.

I thought the exact opposite. Obviously they didn't have much confidence in their teammates (and understandably so) but they did not seem too willing to pass the ball, except to each other.

Oak Hill was clearly the better team tonight, and it showed. IMO, Ellis would've made very little impact. Oak Hill was just physically stronger, and Ellis would've got pushed around. OH plays great team ball. There wasn't a selfish player on the floor for them, and it really surprised me. I thought I'd see a lot of one on one play. Lawson was very impressive, but he was going against much weaker guards. He had his way against NCH as their small guards could not keep up.

 

OJ Mayo was very impressive too, and IMO, was the best all around player on the floor. He did start out slow, but when it was apparent no-one else on the team was going to do anything, he tried to take over. He had a lot of forced shots, but what are you going to do when the rest of your team should've just stayed home (meaning they were intimidated all night). He has a nice touch from the outside and can create off the dribble. The thing that makes him so good, is that he uses his body very well to create separation.

 

Bill Walker and #30 for OH were the best athletes on the floor. Both are high flyers, and both seemed to have a decent outside shot. #30 didn't really show it during the game, but warming up, he had a nice touch. The inbound pass was definitely Walker's best dunk, although a couple of the others were nice.

 

Free-throw shooting was very impressive by OH. I can only recall them missing one. I'm sure there may have been one or two more, but they were solid from the line.

Good point nees. OHA was very impressive and it was because they played team basketball. They were very smooth from the FT line as well, and I was impressed with how they attacked the glass when a shot went up.

 

#30 for OHA is Michael Beasley - he only had 11 points, but was probably one of the top 4 players on the floor.

No enthusiasm, not enough cheering for the home team when they made a 2nd half run...Just a bunch of basketball aficianados who love watching outstanding talent sitting their in awe at times. The best part of the game IMO..came when Ty Lawson first put a headfake and then crossover on the NCH guard and about broke his ankles....when player can do that and get the reaction he did from the crowd, that was truly amazing.

I have heard rumors as well that Mayo Oden Cook and Walker all expressed interest in OSU and if so they may even be a #1 seed in the tourney.. that would be an all star cast but all of them would only be there for a single year.. Plus correct me if im wrong oden is a year older than the rest and he would most likely be gone before they arrived unless he was smart and stuck around to win a ring ....

Coach Smith from OHA said it was a very easy atmosphere for his squad, not exactly Rupp Arena during the state finals.
