Obviously movie taste is very subjective. Some of the responses are just :scared:

Couple good calls I noticed:

Aliens

Terminator 2

I've heard Catching Fire is better than Hunger Games, but haven't seen it yet, so I can't make a call.

Saw Rocky II mentioned earlier. I think it can be in the conversation, though it wasn't better than the original, it was underrated IMO. After that though, the Rocky movies became music videos, until the also underrated Rocky Balboa to end the series.

FWIW, Halloween IV, the Return of Michael Myers has always been my favorite of the Halloween movies.

Hard for me to argue that it's actually a better movie than the original, but it is my personal fave.

If we're going to go with that as a basis, then how about the United States' biggest competition as far as a hockey-playing nation being a dinky little island with 300,000 people total. D2 is ludicrous.

The first is FAR better.

But Canadians are soooo nice, we'd be huge tools if we put them in the role of Iceland.

It's definitely a product of its time too. D2 came out in 1994. If that movie is made even five years earlier, there's about a one hundred percent chance that the super-talented team with standoffish players and a vicious coach is the USSR. But 1994 put us right at the height of our post-Cold-War friendship-making.

Hahaha... for sure. I was kind of going for the Miracle on Ice meets Rocky IV angle.

Rambo 2 was a lot better than Rambo 1

This is always the answer I give when this question comes up, assuming you're counting "First Blood" as the first one and "Rambo" as the sequel.

The Notebook 2 was much better than the first one

Don't get me going on Mighty Ducks Two. One of the best hockey player's in America, selected to join the Ducks, is a guy that can't even come to a complete stop on the ice. Over-silliness.

HOLD THE PHONE.

As a kid, I had this movie memorized. Memorized I tell you. It's a classic. And while all of these arguments are valid, you're missing even bigger points. Like 10 of the 16 are from the same pee-wee team? And there are several team members who disappeared? Banks' wrist magically heals? How did Russ Tyler put on that much gear, that fast, out in the open, without anyone noticing?

But far and away, the biggest question.

How was Gunner Stahl not kicked out for clearly being twice everyone else's age??

You bring up a lot of valid points. Are people in Iceland even named Gunner Stahl?

You must not know. Iceland is to junior hockey as Chinese Taipei is to Little League Baseball. Makes no sense.
Really? You're making your stand there when it comes to calling out movie unreality? C'mon, man.

Really, for the Mighty Ducks is comes down to Emilio Estevez. Hard to take anything he has been in all too serious besides Young Guns. His role as Gordon Bombay is sadly some of his finer work.

How could I forget Loaded Weapon though? An American Classic.

Surely you can't be serious.

Shirley, you can't be serious!

Are there any "Planet of the Apes" experts out there? I can't say that I am. I do recall seeing the original as a kid, and catching it recently by chance on TV. I was amazed as I found it to be more profound as an adult than I ever did as a child. Not sure that I have the patience to plow through all the sequels, but am intrigued enough to hear if anyone thinks that any of them measure up to the original.

Here's a link to a listing to every sequel etc...

I wonder if there's ever been any other movies that have had such a plethora of the sequel treatment?

Planet of the Apes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Love the Planet of the Apes. The sequels were not as good and often criticized because they used masks versus make up on a lot of the extras. Really looked bad. The overtone of the original was very profound. Saw a documentary on the show one time that was very entertaining.

Time to change my Avatar back to the original one I had.

I think that American Pie 2 definitely held up to the hype of the first.

Analyze That

Back to the Future II was definitely as good as the first, I actually like it better.

Ghostbusters II

Jaws II - Not as good as the first, but not bad as far as sequels go.

Lethal Weapon II

National Treasure II

Problem Child II

Tried to find ones that weren't named. Sorry if I had a repeat.
