Final.

First shutout in a state title game since earlier this afternoon.

What a game. Belfry's defense was incredible.

And now a serious stat - lowest scoring state final since St. X won 3-0 over Trinity in 1997. First time since that same year that there was only a single score on the day.

Way to go Pirates!

Hats off to both teams. Hate to see either of those teams lose.

One of the best games I've seen in a long time, despite the conditions.

Man, listening to the Haywood interview, I see where you Belfry guys get it.

Enjoy this one ATLCat and Watsui!

Congrats to Belfry! They have a great program.

Congrats to Wayne Co also. I know they will be dissappointed, but they left it all on the field and that's all you can do.

Congrats to the Belfry Pirates & Watusi and ATLCat.

Belfry was my pick to win 3A before the season started; congratulations. Wayne County has a very bright future ahead and I believe more of them will definitely be seen. On another note, Wayne's helmets looked awesome.

Great game. Both sides played some awesome defense.

^^ Thanks Brother...fitting that Belfry's biggest point of concern all year shuts down a darn good Wayne County offense to win it!

The Belfry Freshman were HUGE! 35 yd FG by Woolum. Austin Hall with the game sealing pick. Horton and Bentley played their butts off.

Wayne's defense was awesome and they were a first class group. Played their hearts out and there is no doubt they were Belfry's equal... it was the heart of this Pirate team who got just enough. So proud of these Seniors!

I said it before and will say it again...I don't know if it was Haywood or an assistant who made the change after the Johnson Central loss to play A. Hatfield at LB and move some players to create a quicker, better tackling defense...but whoever it was deserves some type of an award as Belfry simply was night and day and that move is why they hoist the trophy.

Tyler Guffey you have my respect...what a tough competitor... hate this special Wayne Co group of Seniors had to lose as I really liked their team all season after watching them and following them... but their program is definitely on the right track and has a bright future and are the model for how County Schools should handle building their program.

Tusi... when you see this...I guess now it's time for us to chew our nails worrying about our offense next year HAHA

Congrats to the Belfry Pirates on your 3A State Championship victory !!!

Also congrats to Wayne County, you young men have nothing to hang your heads about !!!

Who was #23 for Belfry? DE & TE. They said the kid was only a freshman. I'm guessing he's someone they are going to be building around in the future.
