Yes, I catch your drift. You clearly know who I am (and I don't care) and I have no idea who you are. But please don't try and put yourself in my shoes. You have no idea! I'm not going to justify your post by telling you all the reasons why I won't be attending. It is reality when you spend as much time away from home as I do, have 4 kids and it is your family time we are talking about. My wife is not a HHS grad and hates football. So just like others have said, when you are talking that much time invested in one football game vs me having to pick and chose when I can get quality family time...guess what is going to win. Sorry you don't approve.

 

And if you are comparing Highlands football to a girl's sport that has never received any fan support, it's not apples to apples. I can tell you how many football games I've been to. How many softball games have you been to...other than walking by the top of the valley and looking down over the years?

I will be making the trip this week to Bowling Green. I missed last week while we were cheering on the Wildcats in Brooklyn. It liked to kill me not being there for my 2 nephews that are on the team. I don't miss many and my wife can attest that I was in a very foul mood Friday night while walking around NYC. Excited for this coming weekend! Go Birds...

Just making sure it's reality you are talking about. Lets hope that we are not using terms like reality when & if another sport at Highlands becomes as relevant as the football team and fans are wondering if they can fit one day out of the year to support one of their programs teams. We are talking about teenage kids here and should respect what they have accomplished.

 

 

I know that you said that you feel bad for not being there for the kids and I truly believe that but in order to get respect you have to give respect. Catch my drift? By the way, you didn't tell me how many softball games you made last year...and you even have a daughter!

 

Good luck tonight against Ockerman. I will be there to catch the second half of your game, then watch the 7th grade girls and then I usually stay for most of the 8th grade game as well. Then I will walk over and watch the varsity girls play Sacred Heart. So I think I do my share of supporting Highlands.

 

All of this while I'm trying to run a varsity program with 38 girls, order all our supplies for the year, put a Varsity, JV and freshman schedule together, schedule varsity softball workouts (becuse we now practice just about year round), help coordinate the new field, order new uniforms, assist in consulting with fundraisors, etc . As well as the AAU org I still try to run (which your daughter played for at one time). And I work...which requires me to travel for business!!! Hence, I take the family time when I can get it!!!!

For some reason this thread reminded me of a SNL skit from the 70s or 80s when they had a guest host who had been denied an emmy for many years from the show he/she was on. It seemed like everyone on SNL had an emmy and they had them laying around and using them for proping doors open or something like that. It was pretty funny, you had to be there. Maybe Dale uses his awards for cracking open nuts or something.
