Not ridiculous at all. There are a lot of moving parts to hiring a head coach. They are being thorough and making sure that all qualified candidates are getting the chance to put their best foot forward. They should have an answer very soon.

Why ridiculous? Its been what 7 weeks since state finals, add in 2 weeks of holidays. If they want to find the right candidate shouldn't they take their time, look through all the applicants and make a good decision, not a rushed one.

Cant say unless you know who applied. I can see them interviewing everyone and then determining Wolfe is the best fit.

The job was posted Dec 6. County rule, postings have to be up for 30 days before interviews can occur. On top of that, since Jan 6, Boone co has had several snow days. I would guess much hasnt taken place in the interview process. I wouldnt expect a decision until next Friday at the earliest.

Ryle may not want Woolf. They may be exhausting all options...I don't think there are very many. Plus, he is a tenured teacher in the building so you would think that goes pretty far.

I think the county/school has a responsibility to make the process competitive and to get the best coach for the school. If Woolf gets the job it is because he is a very good football coach, not as a favor. At least, I hope that is their process.

They will find out when the coaches is hired. Just like the coach will find out what he really has talent wise when he gets into the program. What he wants to run when taking the job, and what he can run when gets into the program can be to very different things.

It is important in this situation to hire the best candidate not only for the student athletes but also for the community itself. Like wise, the decision needs to be right for the new coach as well. Let them take the time to get this right.
