Butler 29 Simon Kenton 14

I disagree. NCC is not your normal 2A school. It's like CCH playing Beechwood. Heck, NCC is going to get SK ready for the playoffs better than Boone or Ryle.

NewCath and Holy Cross have no business on the schedule of a 6A team that has post season plans.

Seems to be working out for NewCath

I just got done stuffing my face on some wings I can't think straight right now. :D

Wings? Or crow?:D

Don't disagree they would challenge more than Ryle and Boone. But if I'm currently in 6a, I'm not trying to compete with them. I have to play them, so I know I'm going to not be too challenged there (at this point), so I'm looking for more comp outside my district and a 2a school is not where I'm looking. Just because they would challenge them more than the other 6a schools doesn't mean NCC prepares them for what they will face. We've grown accustomed to seeing NCC compete with the 6a schools and we think its good because they challenge them. When in reality it is good for NCC, but not really that good for the 6a team. If we want to compete 6a, we need to set our sights higher than any 2a school. I'm sorry if it hurts feeling, but its the fact. Look at T, X, HHS, BG, Warren Central, John Hardin and even Scott co, Ryle and Boone. The 6a schools hardly have any 4a teams on their schedules, let alone 2's and 3's.

I'm not saying its terrible for NCC to be on your schedule, but if they are one of the teams you hang your hat on for a SOS argument for a 6a program, then there is a problem.

It's still beyond me why any NKY 6a program that as any aspirations of eventually competing with teams down state (which I would hope is all of them), wouldn't have Cov Cath AND Highlands on their schedule.

While I don't disagree, everyone makes scheduling sound likes it's a matter of just picking up the phone (although in some cases it may be that easy). BOTH teams have to have an interest in playing (and I'm by no means saying anybody is ducking anyone else) AND an open slot during the same week. Highlands and Cov Cath can't play every team in Northern KY, and quite frankly are on a different level than most NKY teams, and it's not their responsibility to prepare other teams for the playoffs. In a perfect world, all the good teams would play all the other good teams, and every week would be a challenge. Real world, it's not so easy, and many schedules are dictated by travel costs and convenience.

Not seeing the game, did SK get outcoached?

I agree with some of your points. Basically I'm saying that if I am NKY 6A teams and I had Cov Cath and HHS right in my backyard, I would do everything possible to get them on the schedule. Even if they are on another level because that's where I'm trying to go...especially if I'm a 6A program that wants success. Both HHS and Cov Cath are always looking for games. Maybe HHS a little more right now. And you could be right, maybe HHS and Cov Cath aren't interested in playinig some of the 6A teams that are in transition right now. What do they get out of playing a down BC or Ryle team. (BTW, I'm not trying to kick these guys while they're down. It is what it is right now and I'm sure they have a plan to change that). As far as travel, those two team are right here. And if it doesn't work out between those guys, then there are a plethora of good teams that can challenge our 6A programs right across the river. It doesn't have to be a GCL team.

I know it's not easy to schedule, but nothing about football or coaching is easy. Putting a challenging schedule together to challenge your team would be pretty high on my priority list...especially if I knew I was close and getting closer to becoming VERY good. I really think SK is on the right path and I do hope they beef up the schedule so they are fully prepared the next time the opportunity arises. I truly think Camp Co is right behind them in terms of progressing. I really think both those programs are on the way up. They just can't settle for what they've done. Records are one thing, competing and challenging the top competition is another.

I will say this, the Simon Kenton game was a great game for the Camels this year. The Camels young corners and safeties hadn't experienced a QB and receivers like they saw during the game with the Neers this year, HHS as well. It was a growing up time for them, and I think it showed. They shut down the Butler air attack. I know the Camels were hoping for a rematch with SK.

I know the Camels got very little recognition this year, but while they were flying under the radar, they were working hard and enjoying being over looked. So yes, the better teams did help the Camels this year.

I want to give props to UK#1Fan for not shying away from the criticism in this thread. He has been served the crow and ate it like a man.

There was a second poster that was so adament about SK being a top level 6A team and downplaying the SOS angle - not a single post from him/her in this nine page thread. I wonder why?

To quote the late Jerry Reed, "just watch old Bandit run". :)
