Derek Akal is a senior defensive lineman at Harlan County and he suffered a traumatic blow to the head last night during the Harlan County/Lincoln County game and was flown to the UK hospital. He has a cracked bone in his neck and tests will be ran later today to determine how serious his injury is. This is a prayer request to BGP asking to lift Derek, his family, his team and his community up in prayers through this tough time for all of them.

Prayers have been answered. Derek does have a broken bone in his neck but he does have movement in his extremities and surgery is not required. He will be in a neck brace for at least 3-6 months and is headed home today.
