We each would have to win 2 games. Moeller would have to get past Elder again and Colerain would have to beat Lakota West. They would meet in the Regional Final and the winner would move to the State Semi-Final.

Trinity is still a good football team. They just have both feet firmly planted on planet earth this year.

Don't know if this is what you mean or not, but as a UK fan, am I wrong in thinking that maybe you are trying to make comparisons to the 2013 UK team that only went to the NIT and acted like they were a huge part of the reason for the success of the 2012 team that won the national championship?

This was an out right EMBARRASSMENT. Out played and out coached, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Could be a very early exit from the playoffs, which may be a blessing. Good Lord.

I cam say, in 30 years of being a Trinity fan, we may have been out coached 5 or less times. Tonight was no different. We've been out "efforted" a bunch this year, I expect the same to happen in the post season.

Every team will have a down year now and then, Trinity will be back in a year or two.

Nope...much like UK...these kids won't be around next year.....unless the talent stays, one year means nothing to the next...

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Trinity is a top team. Look at all the 6A teams you respect tonight (save St X) and look who they played. I believe that as long as you have leadership on your team and a strong head coach then playing top competition will only make you better. I don't think a team in the State (unless I drank a keg of Purple CoolAid) beats Moeller tonight. So you don't beat Moeller -So What! You've got the team to make a run. Regroup and follow your coach and QB. Coach and QB it's time to play T football. I believe in them.

Just as a point of order. I haven't seen the Harbin projections yet, but the D1 playoffs in Ohio have a new format this year.

 

Only two regions, with 16 teams from each region advancing to the playoffs. If Colerain and Moeller meet in week 3 of the playoffs, it would be a regional semi match. If they meet in the regional finals, the winner would advance to the state championship game.

 

Ohio added a seventh division this year as well as changing the format of D1. IMO both were good moves.

I disagree, Moeller is just that good. T is still going to be very dangerous in the playoffs.

I don't know what to make of this team. I truly believe that the talent is there but there is a huge disconnect between the talent and the performance if that makes any sense.

Not that I'm ANY sort of football expert...but using some experience I've gained over my working years, there are times when groups of people "click" and work together and are just a rockin' team (no pun intended). Then, some of that team move on, and despite having a core of the same people there to work together, the identity (if you will) is lost. It takes a while to reform an identity. Beyond the talent that was lost from the last few years' teams, there is that intangible "it" that they have to find for themselves.

 

While disappointing, the teams in the seasons ahead will likely reap the benefits of the lessons learned this season. Leaders will emerge, performance will improve, and the "it" factor...the determination, will and refusal to lose, will develop.

 

There's still a good chance this team can get to that point, but they have to use the next week to really focus on that. I think this is an "internal" issue...not a problem inside the program, but that the players need to reach inside themselves and find those intangible qualities that vault them from talented to players to talented players who play with full potential.

There are a lot of kids that are now playing that in past years just "showed up" and we won. They are now finding out that when you are on the field rather then on the sideline that's not how it works.

I've been concerned about the leadership of this team. I am befuddled by the lack of progress the team has shown. That is very un-Beatty-like. People say the talent is not there. The traditional Trinity heart and personal and team pride may be lacking as well. Last night was about the worst performance since we lost at Dunbar or Tates Creek in the mid-90s. I hope the boys can pull it together.
