Report: Obama administration knew millions wouldn't be able to keep insurance

On June 15, 2009, Obama said this: "We will keep this promise to the American people. If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your healthcare plan, you will be able to keep your healthcare plan. Period.”

In 2012, he echoed that sentiment, saying, "“If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”

However, many are finding that not to be the case. More than 300,000 cancellation notices have been sent out in Florida, according to Kaiser Health News, and another 180,000 in California. In New Jersey, the number of cancellations tops 800,000, the Star-Ledger reports.

IMO if a HUGE PROMISE like this isnt kept, especially since it was PUSHED and FORCED into law, then it should be done away with. How can you just lie about something so important to people and still get away with it. Obamacare should be struck down due to not fulfilling the promises of the law.

Not to worry. They'll probably use the liberal standby Obama lied but his heart was in the right place or better yet all those people getting cancellation letters are Bush's fault.

Interesting timeline around NBC article.

Obama administration knew millions could not keep their health insurance - Investigations

Section that disappeared and reappeared:

"None of this should come as a shock to the Obama administration. The law states that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010 will be “grandfathered,” meaning consumers can keep those policies even though they don’t meet requirements of the new health care law. But the Department of Health and Human Services then wrote regulations that narrowed that provision, by saying that if any part of a policy was significantly changed since that date -- the deductible, co-pay, or benefits, for example -- the policy would not be grandfathered."

Continuing (apparently in both versions):

"Buried in Obamacare regulations from July 2010 is an estimate that because of normal turnover in the individual insurance market, “40 to 67 percent” of customers will not be able to keep their policy. And because many policies will have been changed since the key date, “the percentage of individual market policies losing grandfather status in a given year exceeds the 40 to 67 percent range.”

That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

Yet President Obama, who had promised in 2009, “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan,” was still saying in 2012, “If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”"

Emphasis added.

So if a arbitrary regulation can override the legal language of the law - what good is the law?

I'm not surprised that Obama & the other Democrat leaders lied through their teeth.

I'm surprised that NBC took a break from their media Lewinsky long enough to tell the truth.

I want to know how many of those that got Obama phones have been able to sign up . Or , how many of those have lost their health insurance or have had to pay more.:idunno:
