So zero tolerance means you're not allowed to be around anyone who's been drinking?

Apparently. Girl was near the top of her class and captain of her volleyball team and now it's all gone, all because she was sober and gave a drunk friend a ride so she wouldn't drive. I think it's especially worse considering they are girls and she picked her friend up from a party.

Great lesson being taught.

What the ?

What the ?

No offense to the Irish, as I'm 1/4 myself, but Boston has a huge Irish-American population, and based on my experiences with Irish, it's more of, "you get a trophy because you drank four beers instead of a handle of whiskey". Surprised that this story originates from there.

I have emailed the school principal.

Point made was that the "black or white" thinking is not always correct and that LEADERS have to realize that and stand up to anyone that questions when he/she goes "gray."

How many lives did the girl possibly save that night by doing what's right?

I will let you know if she responds. My guess is she will not.

What lesson does this teach the driver??? I don't understand at all

Wow, how dumb do we keep getting. Is there no such thing as common sense anymore.

Before I jump on the bandwagon, I need to know the answer to one question. How long was the girl at the party?

Why do I need to know that? If she is hanging at the party for an hour, then she isn't just giving a drunk friend a ride and she did violate the zero tolerance rule. If she was there 15 minutes or less, then I am on the "administrators with no common sense" train.

I think the article said she got there pretty much as the police were arriving. Now whose account that was based on (hers or the police) I'm not sure.

From the article:

"Two weeks ago, Erin received a call from a friend at a party who was too drunk to drive. Erin drove to Boxford after work to pick up her friend. Moments after she arrived, the cops arrived too and busted several kids for underage possession of alcohol.

A North Andover High School honor student, Erin was cleared by police, who agreed she had not been drinking and was not in possession of alcohol."

What would it matter? If she wasn't drinking then what was she guilty of?

Zero tolerance policy that she should be well aware of.

Regardless, the posts above clarify she wasn't "partying", she had arrived just before the police. School administrators can be illogically rigid as they try to prevent any exceptions to their rules and this sure seems like one of those situations. If I were the girl's parents, I would be fighting this to the bitter end. If the current administration doesn't "see the light", that would include campaigning against current school board members and working to get the administrators replaced.
