I hear what you are saying but the Commish has a lot of influence over the way things flow.

Don't they? Every college basketball game I've ever been to ends with players and coaches going through a handshake line. Every football game ends with the coaches and players coming together.

 

Politicians are involved (and I'm neither agreeing with it or not) because this is a State Institution.

 

This knee-jerk policy is back-firing to Ruthian proportions...not a shock.

 

Some folks I have a TON of respect for (Leatherneck, Clyde, etc.) love the policy, and not having the time nor the energy to dig my heels in, that is why I avoided that thread yesterday.

 

You are correct about college basketball but football players sometimes look each other up but only if they want to. I can see where sometimes you can have some flareups after a heated game. My grandson plays 8th grade football and he says there is lots of trash talk even during those games.

Just so folks know this is not as some described, a knee jerk reaction. It has been a month or more in the making as I first heard about it three weeks ago from a source outside of the KHSAA. As I understand it, the policy was written at that point and the information disseminated to schools about what was forthcoming. Time was granted for feedback and the the policy disseminated.

We have foreign pipelines for basketball, schools with 8-12 new players year after year in basketball, a watered down football playoffs, and getting ready to have a horrible basketball re-alignment.

 

Football isnt water downed. Many schools who would never have a chance to make playoffs and even win a game now get to. Everyone isnt Trinity of Highlands where every year is a good year.
