Why? This is as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning. The first release put the blame for ANY wrong doing by players on the shoulders of the school, it was already there, but the release made it public and known. Now, if the schools allow, or condone, the handshake they are to blame for any problems and there is a paper trail to prove it.

 

In my opinion, this was the intent all along with the first release. Now, there is an explanation, but the cat is out of the bag now, and many schools will not participate in a handshake, and that it what was wanted all along.

I agree with you, I believe the original intent was to have schools stop all together with the handshake thing for nothing more than liability issues. If that was not their intent then why release any statement at all? Coming back afterwards to make a claim it was basically saying the officials didn't have to stay around to police the handshake line is a joke because the officials never had to stay around before the memo was released.

 

It's KHSAA's way of trying to save face in the wake of all the embarassing press they have received nationally.

 

If the intent was to say "Schools can continue to have their players shake hands with opposing teams after the games" then why release anything in the first place?
