October 6, 201313 yr Author So the president can't comment on social issues? Must be one-tracked on everything? I think there are bigger issues right now then the Redskins' name.
October 6, 201313 yr He can say what he wants. But I really don't care what his opinion is on the matter.
October 6, 201313 yr I think there are bigger issues right now then the Redskins' name. Obama, in an interview with The Associated Press, said team names such as the Redskins offend "a sizable group of people." He said that while fans get attached to the names, nostalgia may not be a good enough reason to keep them in place. It would appear from the article that he was asked the question and responded to it. It doesn't appear to be an extemporaneous posit on the issue. No problem with his comment. Also have no problem if Washington and/or fans don't care what he thinks.

October 7, 201313 yr The Washington Redskins could have been his team. I hate the redskins and wish Snyder would tell Obama to butt out and worry about his own problems and quit stiring the controversy and trying to deflect the real problems in Washington.
October 7, 201313 yr So if the name offends Native Americans should they just suck it up because that's always been the name?
October 7, 201313 yr As has been said, he was asked a question, he responded. And the notion that he should "focus on so and so" is a little ludicrous considering the roughly one million different items that cross the desk of a United States president every single day. I doubt focus is his problem.
