Bowling Green beat St. Xavier in Louisville. The St. Xavier player who gave Bowling Green the most trouble (and was really one of the few kids who was overly effective against them) was on the sidelines in the Trinity game, and Bowling Green's win still came off more convincingly. That's what made my mind up. Just to add to it, there were questions about how prepared Bowling Green would be going into the game given the circumstances that led to the cancellation of their game the week before (i.e., they were only playing their second game of the season and had an extra week layoff).

 

 

If they played, I don't know how Trinity would cover all the skill players for the Purples, but Bowling Green's kicking game wasn't very strong either, and I could see Trinity capitalizing on it.

 

I think Bowling Green would win it in a close one if the two were to meet at full strength on a neutral field, it'd be a very good game, but if I had to pick a team, I'd go with Bowling Green. Both teams are outstanding and reasonable minds can differ.

Or just Bowling Green for district games they were obligated to play? Was Owensboro included in those groups or are they too similar to the "big city" of Louisville?

So you equate scoring 91 points to calling someone "podunk" and "haystack"? Got it.

It will be settled in the minds of the BG supporters. Just because a team (any team, not just Trinity) loses the 6A title, doesn't mean they couldn't win the 5A title. This whole debate is 100% opinion. The only "facts" there are is matching common opponents, and most of the time that does absolutely nothing to accurately measure how two teams stack up against one another. It's a great debate for KY HS Football, just one that will never be settled on the field.

Funny thing is, nobody is trying to dethrone Trinity. All someone had say is I think BG may be better than Trinity and the Rock fans came out of the woodworks. Avid Tiger already ended the debate.

 

Some Trinity fans need to make themselves feel better by saying we own Ky, BG wouldn't schedule us, blah blah blah. All I needed was someone who has seen both teams play against a common opponent and let those eyes tell us what they saw. Once Avid Tiger did that it was case closed for me. If some other St. X fans disagree with Avid then the case will be re-opened. Until then, better luck next year Rocks. 2013 is Purple and Gold.
