Bottom line, Mayfield has a team that should beat Bw this year. We can throw it underneath or over the top or line down and pound it so Bw will have to pick their poison on defense if both make it that far. Bw speed is good, likely a little better than ours but it shouldn't be enough so to give them any significant advantage. Mf line and superior QB play should be the difference. I am alot more worried about Russellville than I am about Bw. I also tend to think that we have a mental edge over Bw

It took half the season to get a Mayfield/Beechwood thread going.

The thing I like about this years Mayfield team is they play with a lot of confidence and don't get rattled when they get smacked in the mouth a few times. Teams like McCracken, Ft Campbell, Tilghman, Murray and Graves are going to have some success and there moments, but, even when they did, the Cards answered back. They're very methodical in there approach and very fundamentally sound. Guhy is as accurate as they come and they mix it up extremely well and they're disciplined, as well. I don't think this team is as talented as some in the past, but, if they stay healthy, they should make another long run in the playoffs. They remind me a lot of the 2002 team in that they just go about there business and play sound, fundamental football. Teams will have to execute for 4 quarters and be resilient to have a real shot to beat them. I do like the Card OL a lot. That may be an area where Mayfield's as strong or stronger than ever.

I appreciate you being a good sport and realize you are letting us all know Beechwood is fast, really fast.

IMO, Beechwood should start being a little more humble. I believe 3 out of the last 4 years, they have finished the regular season with a 6-4 record. Thank God the KHSAA lets everyone (or almost) everyone in the playoffs so they can pad their record a bit.

 

Is "Zero" a reference to your IQ? Take a look at those losses and see who they are to before you criticize a team for their record. Beechwood schedules tough non-district opponents. Sometimes it results in some losses. In the past four years, I can only think of 1 Upset. That would be Holmes 2012.

So let me say this. We would have to be fools to criticize anything Mayfield does. Where did I say it wasn't tough? Heck, where did I even imply it?

 

No one knows what Mayfield does more than the Beechwood fans. I was responding to a criticism of Beechwood's regular season records the past few years. It was in no way a reference to Mayfields or saying theirs isn't as difficult. Heck, I assume that it may be more difficult.

"Lack of confidence" is not something I would ever use to describe a Mayfield team. Even when they are down, they look confident and in control. That was never more apparent than in last years Playoff game.
