Beechwood should be the underdog any time they play a 4A-6A school right?

 

I can't remember in the past 5 years, Mayfield ever being considered an underdog, or at least a substantial underdog. Outside of BG and maybe WC, the last 2-3 years(not including this year), I would say Mayfield, despite being a 1A team, has been a favorite in nearly every game it's played, and that's been to some pretty solid bigger class ranked schools. They may not have always been the most talented or deepest team on the field, but, still was considered a favorite to win.

I saw Mayfield play my McCracken Co. Mustangs earlier this year. They are tremendous! They beat a 6A team that would be a favored squad going against the majority of Kentucky public school teams!! I don't see anyone coming close to the Cards with the possible exception of Caldwell. Even the Tigers should be a 10 point underdog to the Cards in my humble opinion.

Yeah, that Caldwell game scares me. It will put the Cards in a quandary, so to speak. Do they continue to spread the field and air it out and give Caldwells potent offense that many more opportunities or do they try and play a ground and pound type game and use there strong OL to keep the Tigers O off the field as much as possible? I think both teams offenses are superior to the others defenses, so, it could be a very high scoring affair. If Mayfield opts to ground it out and eat the clock, that makes them more susceptible to turnovers, so, Coach Morris may take his chances in a shootout, but, that's scary against a team like the Tigers and makes it more of a 50-50 type game, imo.
