Unfortunately, some young Hispanic kids at the Mesa grade school likely have only negative impressions of uniformed law officers wearing guns. Similar has occurred with other minorities. Some of these children, no doubt, have heard about or even possibly witnessed families being separated over the issue of illegal immigration. Thus, these kids' concept of "the law" is different than most children's, especially given the fact that Mesa ain't that far from Mexico.

 

Therein may well explain why the principal asked the police officer not to wear his uniform/gun to school. I'm not saying what the principal did is correct. I'm simply offering a reason for his actions, and why both the school district and the police department have remained silent since the Fox TV piece.

 

I might be wrong, but I think this is a plausible explanation.

Actually, the plan is for the officer or the police department to talk to the kids and let them know that police officers are there to help the youngsters. (Which leads me to wonder whether school policing programs got the budget ax down in Mesa.) Let's not forget, folks, that the most visible lawman down there is Joe Arpaio, "America's toughest sheriff." Need I say more?

Again this isn't on the policeman, the parents or the kids it's on the Principal that wasn't enough of a Leader of that school to explain the situation to the complaining parent. If that parent was told this guy was a police officer and they still had a complaint then they need to go live in a bubble, but I'm guessing the Principal never told them that he was a police officer.

The fact that someone on BGP is actually defending these parents is just as alarming as these parents complaining about this.

I'm more critical of threads based on Faux news stories than I am of the network itself. No doubt there's a real need to supply right-wing males with incomplete, biased stories and Foxettes in short skirts.

Nope, your theory is just that a theory. It is sad that so many people live lawless lives and that their children grow up fearing and not respecting law enforcement, but there is no evidence that was the issue with this child or parent.

 

It is a fact that many in Arizona are stupid to pursue issues like this.

Fact: People of Arizona keep electing John McCain to the Senate as a Republican when he has clearly been a Democrat for at least a decade or longer.

Fact: People of Arizona to dumb to know the difference

What did Fox or anyone sensationalize? No other news service has found this upsetting enough to even post a story that I could find on it....but I guess since it's from Fox there has to be something to complain about.
