What is your favorite brand and flavor of beef jerky?

Featured Replies

Seems there is more Jerky brands and flavors than there are people who eat them.

Some people are pretty loyal and adamant about their brand.

So, I ask you, BGP, what is your favorite brand and flavor of beef jerky?

I recently discovered Mingua (MING-ghee) Brothers and I love the mild but the HOT flavor is killer and is my favorite.

Plus it is made in Paris Kentucky, which is very cool.

I haven't tried any other Mingua flavors but I am intrigued by the thought of the Cajun and the Grippo's BBQ flavors.

Not a huge Beef Jerky fan but if there is a Grippo's BBQ flavor that one has to be the best.

Mingua Grippo's BBQ for me. Easy.

^^^^^^^Bingo

I've got a couple variations that I make myself that I like an also good bit as well. Thai sweet chili is one I've had quite a few compliments on. I like my peppered jerky as well, although that one is kinda tough to mess up. I might look into trying my own recipe with the Grippo's seasoning you can buy nowadays.

Mingua and everything else is in a distant second place.

That stuff is like crack and isn't much cheaper.

As far as quality of the beef jerky, I think Wild Joe's is right up there with Mingua. In fact, I'd probably take Wild Joe's Cajun over all of Mingua's flavors except Grippo's.

I've never tried Wild Joes. Need to try to find some.

Mingua Hot. Never tried the Grippo's...going to have to now. I remember when that stuff used to be hard to find outside of Lexington area.

I don't traditionally like the really sweet jerky like teriyaki an I prefer hickory smoked over mesquite.

I like the thin jerky even if it is a little chewy. I don't much like the thick cut softer type.

That said, Jack Links hickory smoked is a favorite of mine but it pales in comparison to Mingua Bros.

This.

Mingua definitely.

I tried I guess a newer Mingua brothers type almost like a sour cream and onion taste to it. Not bad but

not my favorite by any means.

Where can it be found now? I've never tried it.
