LOOGY
What a touching end to a great career. Clyde
This link also shows his last entrance form the 'pen. The cool thing about it is that the Yankees had a recording of legendary NYY announcer Bob Sheppard announcing the change.
LCDAWGS19
Very cool to have Pettite and Jeter take him out of the game. Very classy guys all around.
DragonFire
I will never like the Yankees, but doggone it, I liked Mo. I got half emotional watching that.
stickymitts
That exit from the game was tough to watch. Love me some Mo. It's funny, you can debate greatest hitter of all-time. Greatest starting pitcher. Greatest baserunner...etc. No one, and I mean no one, debates the greatest closer of all-time. GOAT!!!

You'll never see that in pro sports again. Heck, college players in basketball are there barely over 17 weeks. Sad.

Jumper_Dad
Is Mo the "Greatest Specialist" in the history of American Sports? Compared to other specialist such as Designated Hitters, Relief Pitchers, Punters, Kickers and any other sports specialist that you can think of. Jumper_Dad
With the Yankees missing the playoffs one of the all-time great pieces of trivia stays in tact. Mariano Rivera has pitched by far more relief innings than any pitcher in playoff history, that said, there have still been more men walk on the moon (12) than have scored an earned run (11) against Rivera in the post season. Compared to other specialist such as Designated Hitters, Relief Pitchers, Punters, Kickers and any other sports specialist that you can think of. I am extremely biased, so yes, IMO. On top of his ability to close games Mo is also extremely humble and grateful. On his farewell tour he spent 30 minutes prior to the start of a series with the grounds crew at whatever field they were playing at. He let them ask questions and thanked them for all their hard work.
oldrambler
# 42........Quite simply, the best Ever. Last night was certainly bittersweet for me watching Mo Rivera make his trip from the bullpen to the mound in Yankee Stadium for the last time (and yes, I shed a tear). As others have said Rivera is no doubt the best closer to ever step on a pitchers mound.....Period. Other than that fact Mariano Rivera is a class act. Like his brother Derek Jeter has never been mentioned in any off field scandals of any type, for him in a place like NYC, to not be negatively in the news/enquirer type papers tells anyone all they need to know. Rivera loved the game, played like he loved the game and not just out there to collect his millions. Rivera loved the fans and always mentioned them in any interview of any kind, he even instead of press time this season had the workers at Yankee Stadium (concession workers, ticket takers, ushers, janitors, etc.) in the press room to talk to him and ask questions instead of the daily press crew. One could go on and on but as all have said....THE BEST to ever play the game at his position. As a long time Yankee Fan, thanks for the Memories Mo and good bye :thumb:
