September 26, 201312 yr Author So what did McCann prove by standing in the base path? What did he accomplish besides starting an altercation? He proved that he's a bad man...and a great teammate.
September 26, 201312 yr Yeah he said "run" because the batter was standing there posing. That's up to Gomez if he wants to show the pitcher up but he can expect a reaction. You need to turn up the volume on the video you posted then. I VERY CLEARY heard what McCann said to Gomez and then heard what Maholm said. Maholm said "run" AFTER McCann gave his profanity laced order to Gomez. McCann said a lot more than run.
September 26, 201312 yr He proved that he's a bad man. Yeah, in his catcher's gear.  Real tough guy, that Brian McCann.
September 26, 201312 yr He proved that he's a bad man...and a great teammate. Yeah, bad at being a tough guy. :lol2:
September 26, 201312 yr Author I heard exactly what he said but I'm not sure that's BGP appropriate. You guys can continue to argue for 9 more pages if you want but nothing is changing my mind...I'll take McCann on my team any day of the week. I have played team sports for many years and that's how a real team reacts in such situations.

And your team would continue to be viewed as a bunch of cry babies who pound their chests when someone doesn't run the bases fast enough for them.
September 26, 201312 yr Author And your team would continue to be viewed as a bunch of cry babies who pound their chests when someone doesn't run the bases fast enough for them. That's how non-sports folks might view us.
September 26, 201312 yr I would love to hear how Reds fans would react if it were their team in this situation. Guarantee there wouldn't be such the uproar.
September 26, 201312 yr That's how non-sports folks might view us. I played sports for about 13 years of my life, and I think the same thing.

September 26, 201312 yr I would love to hear how Reds fans would react if it were their team in this situation. Guarantee there wouldn't be such the uproar. It would probably be a relief for Reds fans because we would finally know that the players give a crap. Until this year, they seemed to be the team you could plunk all day and nothing would be done. Finally, this year, they look like they have some life. At least Leake and Latos...possibly Bailey.
September 26, 201312 yr Author I played sports for about 13 years of my life, and I think the same thing. You played team sports for 13 years and you think it's fine for someone to show up one of your teammates on the field?
September 26, 201312 yr That's how non-sports folks might view us. Naw, I played team sports and baseball through high school. That's how we'd view you guys also. Especially if your pitcher is the one who initiated all this from the jump.
September 26, 201312 yr You played team sports for 13 years and you think it's fine for someone to show up one of your teammates on the field? I was also a catcher... In no circumstance I could ever remember or think of would I have stood in the base path because someone hit a HR. And PLENTY of people milked it. If my pitcher beaned a guy that many times and then that guy took him yard, I wouldn't say a word.
September 26, 201312 yr You played team sports for 13 years and you think it's fine for someone to show up one of your teammates on the field? If my teammate started it I'm going to back my teammate and make sure he doesn't get whipped. I'm not going to disregard the facts just because he is my teammate. I'm also not going to upset our team chemistry. It's obvious my teammate is doing enough of that on his own.
