Opinions on KSR

I think Jones is a good radio personality. I listen to the show because it passes time at work and for a few laughs. A good example was when a guy called in the other day and said he was best friends with J.B. Hunt's brother, Mike. Or when James said he could run a 4.1 40 at one time and can still hit 4.3. If you listen to it for humor, it's a great show. If your expectations are outstanding college basketball analysis, then you're likely disappointed.

And you get an occasional mention. That clown story, if I remember right.

Yeah, I wrote on KSR for a short while and know Jones a little. I discovered that working with him wasn't really my cup of tea but I respect what he has built. I have nothing against him although I don't always agree with everything they do or say.

Does he still mention our boy, Danny Jett like he used to?

I listen more than I used to. I think it's been a great success story from an entrepreneur standpoint. The guy created this from nothing and now seems to be doing pretty well. I applaud him for his success.

If you are looking for a "sports news" show go somewhere else because this ain't that.

It's mainly humorous and , for the most part, I do find Matt to be funny. I agree with OB that the less callers the better. Callers hurt the show.

My one constant critic of Matt is that he's too thin-skinned when it comes to criticism of UK or anything UK-related. In those cases he comes across as just another lunatic UK fan who can't even use his brain to understand what critics might truly be saying.

I also believe his access to UK insiders has grown so he does get some good info occasional

I could see where Deuce and other UL fans would not like the show.

Definitely agree with this.

I enjoy the show every once in awhile when I listen, but at times it gets old (and I bleed KY Blue) but it gets old hearing how UK will win every game no matter what sport. IT was pretty embarrasing hearing how UK was going to destroy WKU by 4+ TD's every day leading up to the game only to watch them get embarrassed again. The show reminds me of several Bengals fans who think no matter how bad they are they are still the best team in the NFL year in and year out.

I'd rather hear some unbiased breakdown of the teams, not an overly biased view.

With all that said, I will take Matt 1000 times over Alan Cutler. I have to turn off the post game show on the radio after a Bengals game because Alan Cutler is like a cheese grater on my soul.

This. A million times over.

While I enjoy his radio show & agree with him on some things, Jones comes across as the type of person I would not get along with at all. Probably better that we have a radio between us.

I haven't heard Jett's name from KSR in a long, long time.

The guy James who called the other day claiming to have once run the 40 in 4.1 seconds is a prime example.

I don't get to listen often but I did catch the James call. What was even better was that later that day Matt twitted out a link to Wikipedia where it had been edited to list James as the fastest 40 yard dash in history. No last name just James on top of the chart.

Jones has basically figured out a way to get paid to be a UK fan, plus get amazing access to the coaches, players, and facilities. Tough to hate on a guy for that.

That might have been the best part of the whole story. :lol2::lol2:

It's a great UK entertainment show. I don't think it tries to be a serious sports show.

A lot of people who dislike it are expecting something other than what it is.

I enjoy the radio show and also the website.I wish the radio show was on some local station .I listen on 630 AM and it is somtimes difficult to pick up. John Short is only on two mins.a day, how can that upset anyone? Ryan has a good sense of humor and adds to the show. The ratings prove that KSR is well liked.

I realize what some of you all are saying, but lighten up some and keep a sense of humor. It's good for you. Just take it for what it is and move on, JMO.

:thumb: I am not a big fan of it but too many people get worked up over it. The funny thing is most people who dislike it have these strong opinions against it but also say they will never read or listen to it. I am sure I am guilty of other similar things though. I take it for what it is... an entertainment show. I think Jones is a goober. I used to enjoy a lot of the satirical work on the website but some of those people have since moved on from the site. I may start revisiting the site once basketball season gets here but at this point I have little use for it.

Mainly I just read the site. I applaud him for his success as others on here have mentioned and think he really knows how to tailor to the UK audience because he is such a big fan. At the same time this could be a reason why some discredit the show, because he is just a "fan". Matt does a pretty good job of entertaining, I think some of the stuff is cheesy and over the top, but the whole ridiculousness is the brand he built KSR off of. I think he has made some good connections that actually supply some good info, and that is part of the success as well. My biggest pet peeve of the sight is some of the other writers who are NOT funny at all, and continuously attempt to mimic Jones, and his comedic efforts. Some of the other writers on there should not be producing material for a public platform or even any platform. I tend to only read stuff written by Matt, and a few others. All in all not a bad way to earn a living, he takes a lot of heat, but deserves most of it. What else can you expect from UK news brought to you by a UK fan hahaha.

If there were a LSR (Louisville sports radio) I wouldn't listen to it, so I can see why some wouldn't like KSR. It's like me (UK fan) getting on a UL message board and expecting not to get mad, it just isn't going to happen.

UUUhhhhhhhh...Matt Jones is, in the immortal words of Charles Barkley..."turibble". And it has nothing to do and yet at the same time everything to do with him being a UK fan. A guy here in the office said I didn't like him because he likes UK and I'm a UNC fan. Yes and no. I don't care that he's a UK fan...the problem is he's one of these "stereotypical" crazy over-the-top UK fans and it all "UK is great, UL sucks at everything". That whole shtick is so 12 year old juvenile...it's just gets so old and stale. And to me, that's his whole thing. he's so irrational he can't look at anything in a non-biased light...then turns around and tells UL fans how biased and blind they are! I've tried, and I just can't listen to the guy.
